Love the look , sound and acceleration through the gears even though it has an automatic trans. This is the classic G body design. Interior space is great as is trunk room when needed . Overall an awesome modern day muscle car. May 10, 2015

Once again, another awesome ride. Got a good deal on it, swapped the crappy 305 out for a better built 350. Has decent power, wish i had more... interior is like brand new. Very clean, could use a paint job.Apr 19, 2012

They don't make cars like this anymore. It's actually steel. Rides like a Cadillac. Looks better than anything curvy or egg-shaped, or hybrid. Cheap to fix, easy to work on, great car for a beginner restorer, or a seasoned race car driver. Not for sale, sorry. ;)Apr 15, 2012

Car is a great car decent power and pretty rlighiable. only had one problem with it so far. but slowly finding other things that need to get fix due to previous owner's cutomization. this car is a nice cruiser. however highway driving it seems to need another gear runs about 3000 rpm at 65.Dec 14, 2011

i like the fact that it was rear wheel drive, however it did not have enough power and it was an automatic. it had very nice handleing as far as drifting is concerned, especialy concidering it had under 150hp and weighed a million lbs. i would have much rather prefered an ss over the 4.3L. two peices of advice: flip the throttle body cap upside down, and saws-all the muffler off lol.Sep 26, 2010

Runs and drives great, the 305 can stay until I'm ready ($$$) for an LSx swap. The body is in great shape, and I got it for a hell of a price, and even drove it home. You cant beat that for a project. A few minor things and this can be a DD.Jan 16, 2010

the tranny had bad slippage and the brakes were iffy. really loose steering but the body was in great shape. the 4.3 liter engine used oil... a lot of oil and gas milage wasnt the best. it is a car to drive on a slow sunday cruise Jan 07, 2010

I love this car more than anything in the world. Performance,
build, appearance, cost and fun factor are all amazing with
this car. I would never buy a different car except for a new
monte carlo. I love driving it.Nov 10, 2009

I love my car to pieces. The body and engine are in perfect shape. Its got a 305 in it right now and I'm thinking of going bigger. I love driving this car around and getting all the looks. O ya I'm a 19 year old GIRL with a 1985 Monte Carlo SS with a 305 block, dual exhase 3 quarter inch, Pearl white color with a red interior.Feb 03, 2009

I love this car. I have owned it since 1993. It has a built 4.3 liter v6 that puts out about 300 hp. The trans is a beefed-up 700r4. It has a Detroit Truetrac differential with 3.73 gears. It is alot of fun, and it sounds like a built v8 when it is running. The cam is the largest grind that Comp Cams offers for the 4.3, and it has a great lope at idle. I wouldn't trade this car for the world.
Future plans include headers, suspension improvements and a fresh paint job. Jan 31, 2009

Drove for about 10 yrs. No problems! Just maintainance. Decided to upgrade the 305ci to a 350ci made a big difference. 1yr after upgrade had an engine fire and it melted the poorly made plastic blower housing which spread the fire into the passenger compartment. Total loss.Jan 18, 2009

Handling is quite bad but, what can you expect from a car that was supposed to me a Demo Derby car. the car weighs about 4,500lbs stock but my dad reinforced the frame cause like I said it was supposed to be a demo derby car so the car weighs a ripe 7,250lbs now :O! But the raw power of this 1985 Monte Carlo CL 305 C.I. is definitely a fun car to drive. I bought this car for $100. These cars have a lot of potential like all muscle cars do. The imports are just jealous they cant shake the ground like the American Muscle can :] Jun 30, 2008

My brother an I got our hands on an 85 SS with a 350,bored 20over, rv cam, stage 1 shift kit all ballanced and blueprinted like a dream come true. The entire car has had the most extensive overhaul I've ever seen with my own eyes. The only thing left to do to this big boys toy is the interior unless.... we decide to bolt on 4or5 hundred more horse for the strip. She handles better than any thing I've ever driven and has out done a 1978 aniversary ed. vette, without smokin the rubber from the rims. Talk about beauty.
By the way, It has a purplish marroon color with just the rite pearl.Nov 19, 2006
