1983 Trabant 601 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The Trabant 601 was built 1964 til 1991 with just some minor engineering changes and almost no real facelift. My 83 Trabant 601 S De Luxe has a yellow painted roof and some chrome bumpers... Overall the 26HP two cylinder two stroke engine is not a racing engine, but with only 650kg of weight the 594ccm engine is pretty strong and in city traffic you can easily go with the modern cars. From 0 - 100 (0-60MPH) it takes....well, kind of forever...But after a long run you can reach 100km/h, even a bit more :-) Technically it is pretty similar to a classic Mustang or other historic car. Drum brakes, leaf springs, all is simple and easy to repair. Parts are still available in good amounts and not very expensive. Overall it is a real fun car :-)May 19, 2011
