Forget the Golf/Rabbit, this was the original hot hatch! Ok it only got its hatch in 81, but with a design by Guigiarro and mechanicals by Rudolf Hruska then it was bound to score well on looks and performance. Good Stuff= Get up and go, brio, chassis performance, and the ability to drive at 10/10ths all day long! For a small car even the 1.3 will hit the 105mph mark, the 1.5ti was good for 115mph and I had one with a 160Hp 1.7 with twin 40 dellorto carbs that would do 130mph and get to 60 pretty darned quick for the day! Remember this car was designed in the 60's went into production circa 1972 and was last made in 1983. CAR magazine voted it Car of the Decade! enough said. Bad Stuff= Rot, build quality, awkward to service (Overcomplicated mechanics). Jul 27, 2008
