I had a 1978 Monza 2+2. I bought it that year brand new. The positraction was a terrible thing to have in Michigan on icy roads. It made the car spin in circles and my husband and I hit a utility pole on Christmas day as a result! I personally thought the car looked cool, like a baby Camaro, But the back spoiler melted into wavy plastic in less than a year and had to be replaced. The clutch went out on it once a year. I finally got rid of it in 1980. It really wasnt a good car, but it was my first brand new car.May 06, 2023

My first car. It was beater. It had a 3.8L V6 so it
went pretty good, but was tired. It used to bottom
out on speed bumps despite the work that was
done on the suspension.
Quality-wise, it was a disposable car. The hood
was welded onto the hood hinges. It was produced
for the sole purpose of being driven until it couldn't
be driven anymore and it was almost at that point
when I owned it. The engine had a lot of work done
to it to try to get more life out of it, but in the end it
didn't really improve the performance. I put more
money into this car than I initially payed for it.
Appearance was kind of hideous. Looking back, I
don't know what I saw in this car. The interior was
an awful tan colour and smelled very used.
Gas mileage was feeble. I had to cheat it through
AirCare everytime.
It was an okay car for a first car. Not a cool car like
other kids in my school had, but it was a set wheels
that got me to and from high school and work for a
few years. I ended up selling it to an unsuspecting
guy. Poor guy. I wonder what ever came of it?Mar 14, 2010
