I will buy another IHC Scout II before any other vehicle. When maintained she has been the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. I have owned her for 20 yrs. now and she has never failed me yet.

Still in process of fixing up. I have to get the motor rebuilt and interior and exterior work done over the next few years. But, she is reliable and a great 3rd vehicle when not the primary off road vehicle.Sep 28, 2012

I loved the truck, had it in high school and beat the heck out it and it still ran like a beauty. It has a 304 V8 with a 4 speed on the floor. Wished I still owned it so that I could restore it and make it look brand new.Dec 05, 2008

it may need some work, but real trucks rattle when they run and it'll pull your ass out of any situation. or run you over...you decide;) having a lift, big tires and dual exhaust eases a good deal of my road rage. Biscuit is truly the love of my life and just looking at her makes my day!Sep 16, 2008

It's slow, rusty, noisy, has iffy handling on-road, and gets horrid gas mileage. But if it's mechanically sound and you can afford to keep it that way, it'll go places no other 4x4 can go. Scouts were made when a sport-utility was designed for leaving pavement behind. It's definitely more truck than car, especially the Scout II with its 6200lb GVWR and an engine derived from industrial applications (a 3800rpm redline out of a gas V8?? Come on..). They have a classic no-nonsense look and can take a lot of abuse but still get you home. And the top comes off! Scouts aren't blessed with the aftermarket support that Jeeps enjoy but if you look hard enough you can find what you need (though you'll certainly be paying for it). It's a challenge having one as a daily driver.Apr 04, 2008
