The Datsun z cars are the best sports cars for the money. There are many clubs around the country to share the love of these cars with. The z cars are going up in price every year and look to be a good investment long term.Feb 01, 2015

excellent sunday cruiser for me and my wife. Can be easily restored on a penny budget, or put a little extra into it for power/handling. after a little modifications my car sounds throaty, has great acceleration, stop on a dime and gets looks everywhere. I would do another one, though a strip street setup.Jul 25, 2012

While the 260Z is not held in the same light as the world famous 240Z, it is still a winner in the price/performance category. There is a very large Z community world wide, with information on how to modify these cars in any way you can dream of. From V8 swaps to twin turbo, you can do just about anything with the first generation Z car and always have people admiring the classic styling of the body.Oct 13, 2010

I haven't driven it yet, as its a project, but theres tons of aftermarket to improve performance. Ownership costs may seen a bit high due to age, and once work is done the car should be fun to drive. Appearance? One of the best when clean.Aug 23, 2010

I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. When I received it, it had a whole set of new brakes put on front and rear. Unfortunately, the original motor had inherent problems with head gaskets, so would always leak fluid into the cylinder. With the right preventive maintenance and tuning, the original equipment on the vehicle can, and often does, last long after the 30+ years this one has been on the road. After realizing the potential this car had, and searching the web for hours a day trying to find parts, found a conversion kit to put a small block Chevy motor and transmission in.Jun 11, 2010

CD of Drag is 0.46
150 Horsepower L28 with a 390 Holley 4 Barrel.
Factory 4-speed with worn shifter bushings (not a big deal)
Stock body and suspension.
Only thing missing from the interior is the center console arm rest.
Stainless steel windshield and hatch glass trim is missing (Didn't realize the cars came with them until about a month ago)
Weight distribution is 52/48 F/R
Came with rare 3-piece spoiler that's out of production.
Not running right now because the 40 year old wiring needs to be re-done.
When I get to building it I want to swap in a 13B-REW and make custom double wishbone front and rear suspension. Hoping to get 40/60 F/R and 50/50 cross-weights with driver and work at mounting everything as low as possible for the lowest CG possible. 225/50/15 tires in front and 275/50/15 tires in back on Work Equip 03 wheels. Reaction Research Subtle Z front fenders and modified MSA Type 1 air dam to match flared fenders, custom steel quarter flares made to replace quarter panel (that way after decades of constant strinking and expanding you won't get crack lines where the fiberglass was molded to steel).Dec 29, 2009

performace is awesome for a car built in 1974. great acceleration, braking is awesome since the car only weighs 2400 lbs, and it handles like it is on rails. build quality is great! as long as you take care of the car, it is a car of the 70's which equals rust. cost of ownership is how much do you want to spend to fix up the car gas mileage isnt an issue as it only gets driven on nice days but if i figured it out i think it would get about 20 mpg.Sep 08, 2009

Gonna add a small block 350 to it pretty soon. Already installed a custom fabricated roll cage and cross-welded the underbody. It's a really light car, and should be pretty quick once i get done with it. I picked it up for $400, just a rusted rolling chassis.Aug 11, 2009

This is the most fun car in the whole world to drive. The engine sounds awesome. Its very loud though. Gas mileage is pretty good. It has a lot of power and can go very very fast. I love this car.Jun 09, 2009

Drives like a dream. Very fast and powerful. It has taken some work to get it road worthy but its all been worth it. Has a very nice interior, but there are a few rust spots on the outside. I would recommend this car to anybody.Dec 10, 2008

Well, right now it's not in the best shape, doesn't have an engine. And to move it you'd have to pull a Fred Flintstone, but its a work in progress.May 05, 2008

My cousin & I got one as a near-wreck, rebuilt & modified it... put a small block Chev V8 & 400Th auto trans in it, with the rear end out of a Vette... what a streeet racer... we still have the car, but mothballed the last ten years, just too expensive to run it...Apr 04, 2008
