My 70 monterey conv. is always an eye catcher,as so few know of the car. 1 of 581 built, it shall be handed down to my nephew,as it was given to me by my uncle in 1990. Just to add to it's oddballness I made it a 4speed manual. signed, crazy 'bout a mercury here at mercury restorations Lockport N.Y.Jan 29, 2009

No heading for Cyclones in these years ...no Cyclones for the choosing at all, actually... so I had to go w/a Monterey. Found two pics, neither mine, mine was more the gold-ish color. That black one is amazing though, innit? Mine had a 390 V-8, almost as many horses. HUGE and heavy car but I could easily get it comfortably past 100MPH, and it'd stay put for as long as necessary..s.tupid as the tires back then weren't rated for speeds as such. Had an entire dash of gauges ...all ponted right at ya ...me, the driver ...angled all the way over to the pass side, nice touch. Got mine in my senior year of high school. It was wrecked once already as when you opened the trunck, you could see how it was re-welded ...but.. it was straight as a pin and solid as a tank. It lasted me about a year, did something stupid one night, I don't even wanna think about. And that was that. When I see one every decade or so now...man...do I lament...wish I had one. Again!Mar 09, 2008
