The performance was great. In the mid 1980's my buddies were getting the IROC z 28's. I could still out perform them. The car handled well around curves and was easy to handle. The 302 V8 never had any problems, the only thing I can remember was after 100,000 miles the transmission began to slip some. It was safe and a good family car in the 1970's. I believe the 4 door would still make a great family car and a good project to restore one. It was fun to drive and acceleration was king.Jan 13, 2015

Not as sexy as a Mustang, and more basic than
the Torino it shared a body style with, the
Fairlane 500 was still a sporty car, with a
powerful 302 V8. Of all the cars I've owned, this
would be the one I would most like to own
again. A classic car that isn't common like a
mustang or a camaro!Aug 24, 2009
