Very stylish inside and out. Condition still a little rough--restoration in progress. As built, braking and handling inadequate by today's standards. Acceleration from 260 v8 okay but nothing spectacular. Fuel economy 20 mpg highway, great for 1963.
Parts have been added to improve handling and braking--sub frame connectors, export brace and Monte Carlo bar (To reduce unwanted flexing of the car's unibody construction, improving the handling). Also the front brakes have been converted from drum to disc.
The fun factor is high because you can roll down all the windows and there is no post between the door and the rear quarter window area, almost like a convertible. The original AM radio works great. A stereo with MP3 input and CD player is also mounted below the center dash.Jun 24, 2009

I haven't actually got to drive the Comet yet it's in restoration. The reason I chose to purchase the mercury comet is because i am obsessed with cars especially classics. The comet is not be the ultimate classic car that I'd like to own, but it sure has grown on me alot....and I get to put my own personal taste to it..Sep 18, 2008
