1958 Renault Dauphine Reviews, Pricing & Specs

This was my dad's car. 25HP, 3 speed manual transmission. Non synchro first gear. Maximum speed was about 55 mph. I learned to drive in this car when I was 15 (1963). Very scary driving on the Hollywood Fwy. It had a tough time making it over the Cahuenga Pass. Compared to the Dauphine, my Dad's 1964 VW bug felt like a Cadillac. The Duaphine's doors and body felt very frail compared to the VW. The engine was pitiful - water-cooled in the rear. But it worked!Apr 19, 2008
