a 58MY 1957 Series 1 Diesel. In need of fixing up before can go on the road.
Lots of interesting and original features mean I can't stick a V8 in it!
Wilma is going to take some time to rebuild.Jun 28, 2010

Power steering (arm muscles)
Air conditioning (gaps between doors and bodywork)
Convertable (take the canvas roof off)
0-60 - never, top speed 55mph!
Turning circle of the QE2
Leaded petrol - tank under the drivers seat
Has seats, windscreen, mirrors, lights and wipers.
When sold in 1955, doors and roof were optional extras

Not a '58 but a '51 Series 1 80" Land Rover. Still running original engine (but thats the only original running gear left!) Engine has been rebuilt, high compression pistons, lightned flywheel, rover 60 Ali head and a gd old SU carb. Series 2 axles, steering and gearbox. Full internal roll cage fits inside the full canvas roof, battery and fuel tank moved into the boot, 3point harnesses and bucket seats.
Guarenteed to put a smile on your face when u drive it!!!Aug 28, 2008

no roof, noisy, lack of padding to seat, no seat belts, non servo brakes and 60 yes 60bhp (when new 56 years ago). A real car for real people!!Mar 29, 2008

Series 1 Land Rover, not a good everyday vehicle but the best for a bit of fun, without the worries of a new vehicle with pristine paintwork and plush upholstry. Interior incredibly basic, original spec did not include cab heating.
