About Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.8T GLS 2-Door FWD
4.3 Overall rating(4 reviews)
Mar 30, 2007
I have never owned a car I have loved as much as my '01 GTI. Even the fully stock car has enough power for everyday drivers. It is sporty and sophisticated and feels comfortable. For all you speed demons, this car is highly modifiable, I am about ready to push about 285 hp out of mine for less than $500 (thank you ebay!) and that is pre-chip. It looks great... drives better and holds it value very well.

Nice paint, nice ride, nice interior, decent power, but I hate FWD..
Sep 30, 2008
Awesome car! Didn't change style for 7 years! Looks cool, performs well, quick off the line, it rules! Not a gas guzzler. So worth the money. Someone we know bought a Toyota for the same price but it had NOTHING!! She still has it (yawn), and we still have ours and it rocks!
Oct 21, 2009
Great performance potential. Lots of tuning help and upgrades available. Smokes Lexus IS250's, and Benz SLK230 Kompressors when the GTI is chipped. Very cheap to own, expensive to maintain, fun to drive. When it works, that is. Constantly needs repair work. Handles kinda sloppy with stock suspension.
