What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the gas-only Toyota Corolla at 6.7–6.8 litres per 100 kilometres combined, depending on the trim. That’s reasonably efficient, but you can save even more money on fuel by choosing the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. With FWD, it achieves fuel economy ratings of 4.7 L/100 km combined. Add on the available AWD, and those ratings go up slightly to between 4.9 and 5.3 L/100 km, depending on trim.
• Infotainment: Toyota now offers a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Corolla XSE, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Which Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Corolla offers these trims:

• Corolla: The entry point keeps the Corolla’s core appeal centred on practicality, reliability, and everyday ease of use.
• Corolla SE: This is the sweet-spot trim. It adds a sportier character and avoids the plain vanilla look of the base Corolla trims.
• Corolla XSE: This trim adds the larger 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and brings the most upscale feel in the lineup.

What Toyota Corolla do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Corolla years with the most listings are 2023, 2021, and 2022.

These model years tend to be popular because they combine strong availability with the kind of pricing and equipment balance many used shoppers want. They also sit close enough to the current generation to offer modern features while still giving you more value than the newest examples.

What is the Toyota Corolla's resale value?

Most Corolla model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more car for your money. The largest drops are in the newer model years, while older examples show smaller declines. That pattern suggests the Corolla remains in demand, but recent inventory has become more attractive for buyers.

The 2015, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
