Is the RAM 3500 a good car?
Yes — the RAM 3500 is a strong choice if you want heavy-duty capability with a more comfortable, better-equipped cabin than many buyers expect in a truck this size. The all-generations owner rating is 4.67/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise its towing strength, spacious interiors, and powerful diesel performance. Many also value the available RamBox storage and the way newer model years add more comfort and technology for everyday use.
29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Owners and experts consistently highlight the RAM 3500's strong towing ability, powerful performance, and comfortable cabin. Across the model years in the data, the truck is also praised for its heavy-duty capability and the way newer versions add more refinement and technology.
- Owners rate the RAM 3500 between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most closely tied to maintenance history and how the truck was used, especially on higher-mileage diesel examples.
What RAM 3500 do most buyers choose?
The RAM 3500 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 459 | 32.5% |
| 2024 | 376 | 33% |
| 2025 | 350 | 30.3% |
| 2022 | 272 | 32% |
| 2021 | 214 | 27.1% |
| 2020 | 135 | 28.9% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, more trim and configuration choices, and a newer feature set. That combination makes it easier to find a truck that fits your towing needs and budget.
What is the RAM 3500's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |

| 2014 | $27,658 CAD | −27.39% |
| 2017 | $39,945 CAD | −17.31% |
| 2024 | $70,891 CAD | −15.88% |
| 2019 | $50,595 CAD | −10.35% |
| 2023 | $68,227 CAD | −10.22% |
| 2025 | $86,979 CAD | −6.95% |
| 2018 | $47,056 CAD | −6.85% |
| 2022 | $63,779 CAD | −6.53% |

| 2016 | $40,100 CAD | −4.95% |
| 2020 | $56,635 CAD | −3.35% |
Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you're shopping used because it creates more room to find value. The biggest drops are in the double digits, while a few years have moved down more gradually. Overall, the pattern points to a market where buyers can benefit from softer pricing across much of the lineup.
The 2020, 2016, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used RAM 3500 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −6.95% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −15.88%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 30.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $68,227 CAD.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
