Is the Kia Telluride a good car?
Yes — the Kia Telluride is a strong used pick if you want a roomy three-row SUV with upscale style and broad family appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, comfortable ride, and premium-feeling features, while also highlighting its strong value and family-friendly practicality. Reviewers also repeatedly point to its smooth ride and generous technology content as major strengths.
Expert reviews rate the 2021 and 2023 models among the highest across all years.
Recent expert reviews also point to a few trade-offs, including ageing technology, an irritating lane-assist system, and brake behaviour that can feel sticky in heavy traffic.
33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Kia Telluride models reliable?
Owners and experts consistently praise the Telluride for its spacious interior, comfort, and strong value, and those themes show up across multiple model years. The Telluride also earns repeated praise for its safety equipment and premium-feeling features, which helps reinforce its reputation as a well-rounded family SUV.
- Owners rate the Kia Telluride between 4 and 4.9 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk looks manageable overall, especially if you focus on well-maintained examples from the stronger later years.
What should I look for when buying a used Kia Telluride?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Highway Driving Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist, with lane-change assist on higher trim levels.
- Infotainment: a 12.3-inch digital driver display next to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system under a single piece of glass.
- Fuel efficiency: It returned a respectable 11.6 litres per 100 kilometres over nearly 2,000 kilometres of driving. That fuel economy result aligns almost perfectly with the Natural Resources Canada rating of 11.7 L/100 km in combined driving.
Which Kia Telluride trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia Telluride offers these trims:
- EX: The entry point, with standard AWD and the Telluride’s core family-SUV appeal at the lowest price in the range.
- SX: Adds more premium equipment and is a strong step up if you want a richer feature set without moving to the top end.
- SX Limited: The best-value trim for shoppers who want a more luxurious feel and more of the Telluride’s upscale touches.
- X-Line: Adds increased ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles, a self-levelling rear suspension, blacked-out styling, and exclusive wheel designs.
- X-Pro: Adds 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and increases towing capacity to 2,500 kilograms, making it the most capability-focused choice.
What Kia Telluride do most buyers choose?
The Kia Telluride years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 235 | 31.9% |

| 2022 | 167 | 37.1% |
| 2021 | 135 | 34.1% |
| 2025 | 126 | 27.8% |
| 2020 | 91 | 38.5% |
These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, newer features, and pricing that still sits below the newest model years. More listings also give you more choice when comparing trims, colours, and equipment levels.
What is the Kia Telluride's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $34,847 CAD | −20.1% |
| 2021 | $29,852 CAD | −17.19% |

The 2025, 2024, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 27.8% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 32.7%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $40,520 CAD. The Kia Telluride offers a roomy, upscale-feeling cabin that makes it especially appealing for families.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Every 2025 Telluride features a 3.8-litre V6 engine that generates 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, with power sent via an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD.
- Tech: In all Canadian trims but the base EX, you’ll get a 12.3-inch digital driver display that lives next to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system under a single piece of glass.
- Safety: For the 2025 model year, every Telluride trim level comes standard with Highway Driving Assist.
- Starting price: You can drive home in a new Telluride EX for $53,840.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Love the look inside and out of the Telluride and all it to offer. The only thing that was holding me back from purchasing is the drive… I felt all the bumps in the road during the test drive. I personally like a more comfortable/cushiony ride.

Reviewed a 2024 Kia Telluride on Aug 1, 2023
Surprisingly, smooth ride, yet firm enough to not feel like a boat floating. Better ride than my Lincoln Aviator. Plenty of pick up but with smooth shifting. Plenty of seat adjustments to find the right spot. Im 57 155, 75 yo and a car fanatic. Its loaded with tech. But I love that. The drivers seat is a bit firm but comfortable and supportive. I researched for 6 months. I compared against all luxury midsize SUVs under 65k. Ive owned most all those luxury sports cars over the years. This is the best Ive ever owned. (Change the inside door handles, they dont fit my hand and are the only thing I can pick on that does not fit me perfectly). I love driving it, so well designed, fit and finish is excellent. Suggestion....add some real wood touches in future designes.

Kia Telluride test drive
overall

The 2025 Kia Telluride isn’t one of the newest three-row SUVs on the block, but it remains one of the best.
Nearly every mainstream car company offers at least one family-friendly, midsize three-row SUV. Kia has three, and the Telluride is the largest of its gas-powered models. (The electric-only EV9 is slightly larger). The Telluride debuted in 2020 to critical acclaim and commercial success. Since then, it has received several updates but not a redesign. We took a 2025 Kia Telluride on a nearly 2,000-kilometre family road trip and remain impressed with this stylish and capable Kia.
Verdict: Aging technology caused some irritation during a five-day road trip in the 2025 Kia Telluride. Otherwise, it was perfectly suited to long-distance travel whether rolling down a highway, roaming a major city, or romping down trails.
