What should I look for when buying a used Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the 2025 Odyssey should get 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.

Which Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey offers these trims:

• Sport: The entry trim brings the updated 7-inch digital driver display, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and Honda Sensing; it suits buyers who want the newest tech at the lowest price.
• Sport-L: Adds more comfort and convenience equipment over Sport, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers who want a richer feature set without moving to the top end.
• Touring: Adds front and rear parking sensors, an 11-speaker audio system, wireless smartphone charging, and the rear-seat entertainment system.
• Black Edition: The top trim adds the most premium presentation and the same high-end family features, including the parking sensors, audio upgrade, wireless charging, and rear-seat entertainment system.

What Honda Odyssey do most buyers choose?

The Honda Odyssey years with the most listings are 2019, 2018, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, mileage, and price combination. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and lower used prices.

What is the Honda Odyssey's resale value?

Most Odyssey model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used because it creates more room for value. The largest drops are in the older and mid-cycle years, while a few newer years are declining more slowly and therefore retaining more of their value.

The 2021, 2014, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda Odyssey safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10
• 2021: 9/10

Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Honda Odyssey now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.42% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.79%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 34.3%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2019 model has the most listings at a current average price of $27,161 CAD. The Honda Odyssey offers a roomy cabin, flexible seating, and family-friendly practicality that make it easy to live with.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Under its stubby hood, you’ll find a tried-and-true 3.5-litre V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
• Tech: A new 7-inch digital driver display pairs with an analog speedometer, and the minivan adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a faster processor for quicker response to inputs.
• Safety: Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Starting price: In Canada, the 2025 Odyssey comes in Sport, Sport-L, Touring, and Black Edition trim levels. Fortunately, with a slightly defeatured Sport version being the entry point instead of the 2024 Odyssey’s EX-L trim, the base price drops by $2,000 to $53,056 including destination charges and other fees.

If you're buying used today, the 2019 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
