Is the Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the Honda Accord is a strong used-car choice, anchored by an all-generations owner rating of 4.42/5.
The Accord consistently earns praise for its roomy cabin, smooth ride, and balanced driving character. Owners also repeatedly highlight its reliability, fuel efficiency, and well-rounded everyday usability, with modern technology and safety features adding to its appeal.
Expert reviews rate the 2021 and 2020 models among the highest across all years.

Owners and experts consistently praise the Accord for its reliability, comfort, and everyday ease of use. Across the model years in the data, it also stands out for smooth rides, strong fuel efficiency, and a solid reputation for safety and refinement.
- Owners rate the Honda Accord between 3.5 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is generally shaped more by the specific model year and condition than by the nameplate itself, so a careful inspection and service-history review still matter.
What should I look for when buying a used Honda Accord?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Honda Sensing, including adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, text-messaging support, and HondaLink connected services.
- Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the Accord EX should return 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.
Which Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2023 Honda Accord offers these trims:
- EX: The base gas-only trim in Canada, with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, a 7-inch touchscreen, digital instrumentation, cloth seats, and a well-finished cabin; it suits buyers who want the Accord’s core strengths in a straightforward package.
- Sport Hybrid: The best-value pick, adding hybrid power, quicker acceleration, upgraded fabric upholstery, and a better infotainment system.
- Touring Hybrid: The top hybrid trim, adding the most advanced equipment in the 2023 lineup, including Google Built-in with integrated Google Assistant and Google Maps.
What Honda Accord do most buyers choose?
The Honda Accord years with the most listings are 2018, 2019, and 2017.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 239 | 31.4% |
| 2019 | 227 | 32.2% |
| 2017 | 183 | 27.9% |
| 2020 | 170 | 30% |
| 2021 | 133 | 25.6% |
| 2022 | 125 | 23.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a strong mix of availability, value, and the Accord’s core strengths in space, comfort, and everyday usability. More listings also make it easier to compare condition, mileage, and pricing across multiple examples.
What is the Honda Accord's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $22,217 CAD | −14.37% |
| 2014 | $12,315 CAD | −13.75% |
| 2023 | $27,683 CAD | −13.71% |
| 2024 | $30,470 CAD | −12.51% |
| 2016 | $15,353 CAD | −11.87% |
| 2025 | $36,501 CAD | −11.21% |
| 2017 | $17,219 CAD | −10.8% |
| 2021 | $24,781 CAD | −10.37% |
| 2019 | $21,215 CAD | −9.74% |
| 2018 | $19,114 CAD | −9.61% |
| 2022 | $28,303 CAD | −6.85% |
| 2015 | $13,883 CAD | −5.62% |
Most Accord model years are showing clear year-over-year price declines, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more room to negotiate. The steepest drops are in the double digits for many years, while a few older and mid-cycle models are falling more slowly. That pattern suggests the Accord remains in demand, but current pricing is still moving in buyers' favour.
The 2015, 2022, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Honda Accord safe?
- 2023: 9/10
- 2021: 9/10
- 2020: 8/10
- 2018: 8/10
- 2016: 5/10
- 2015: 7/10
Every 2023 Accord has Honda Sensing, a collection of advanced driving assistance systems that includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist.
For the safest used buy, the 2021 and 2023 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
Should I buy a used Honda Accord now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −11.21% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −12.51%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2018 model has the most listings at a current average price of $19,114 CAD. The Honda Accord offers a roomy cabin, a smooth ride, and a balanced driving character that make it easy to live with every day.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Honda equips the 2023 Accord EX with a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, and the Accord EX should return 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.
- Tech: The infotainment system includes Bluetooth connectivity, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, text-messaging support, and HondaLink connected services, including Wi-Fi access and an SOS emergency call button.
- Safety: Every 2023 Accord has Honda Sensing, plus a reversing camera with three different views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
- Starting price: The 2023 Accord EX costs $37,000 CAD in Canada.
If you're buying used today, the 2018 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Reviewed a 2024 Honda Accord on May 11, 2026
My 2024 Honda Accord is a solid car that is reliable, efficient, comfortable, affordable, and easy to maintain. It has desirable features like blind spot detection, a moon roof, numerous air bags, heated seats, great gas mileage and various safety features. Plus it is a good looking sedan. This is my third Accord and I am very pleased with it. Please note our son is still driving my 2002 Accord with no major issues. If you are looking for a car that will be reliable, affordable, comfortable and last a long time the Honda Accord is a great choice.
