Im coming from a Tesla Model Y 2023. The ride on the Equinox is 100% better, not exaggerating. One of the reasons I moved from the Tesla. The screen is awesome, great dashboard! Google assistant and Google maps are fantastic. Im an Apple user and I thought not having Apple Car Play would be a bummer. Its not. Everything works very seamlessly. I wish it was a little faster, but its fast enough. Would never go back to a Tesla. its not to see that GM has caught up with Tesla and IMHO makes a much more user friendly, comfortable upscale car. I had the car for about 3 weeks now. Its also got the benefit of not supporting Mr. Musk which is a big plus for me. Im glad weve got some alternatives that are as good or better now.

For long-term ownership, a used buyer should focus on battery condition, charging habits, and the remaining factory warranty coverage.

What should I look for when buying a used Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Key things to evaluate:

  • Safety package: Active Safety Package 2 adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, and intersection braking, and this package is standard in Canada. Active Safety Package 3 adds a semi-automated parking system and the Super Cruise automated hands-free highway driving system.
  • Infotainment: The large 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in brings sharp graphics, quick responses, map and traffic features, and app support.
  • Range & charging: Up to 513 kilometres of range, an 85-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and DC fast charging at a maximum rate of 150 kW that can replenish roughly 110 kilometres of driving range in about 10 minutes.
  • Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how the vehicle has been charged over time, and review the remaining battery warranty so you understand how the pack has been used and what coverage still applies.

Which Chevrolet Equinox EV trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV offers these trims:

  • LT: The entry trim is the economical choice and still feels well equipped, making it the best-value pick for most shoppers.
  • RS: This sportier trim adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and added convenience and safety packages for buyers who want a more distinctive look and extra equipment.

Should I buy a used Chevrolet Equinox EV now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

  • Price trend: The 2025 model is at −20.88% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −6.38%.
  • Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.9%.
  • Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $40,584 CAD. The Chevrolet Equinox EV offers a smooth ride, a quiet cabin, and a comfortable everyday driving experience.

Consider waiting if:

  • Range & charging: In standard form, the Chevrolet Equinox EV comes with a single 220-horsepower electric motor and front-wheel drive (FWD), while the AWD variant is estimated to reach 100 km/h in only 6.0 seconds and the DC fast-charging system has a maximum rate of 150 kW.
  • Tech: The Equinox EV's infotainment system benefits from the large 17.7-inch touchscreen and Google Built-in.
  • Safety: The latest model adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts and automatic braking, side bicyclist alert, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, intersection braking, a semi-automated parking system, and Super Cruise.
  • Starting price: The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV has an MSRP starting at $48,333 CAD.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
