What should I look for when buying a used BMW X3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The official fuel economy rating is 8.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and we averaged 9.8 L/100 km on our mountainous test loop.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display features a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect.

Which BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW X3 offers these trims:

• X3 30 xDrive: The base model brings a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and a satisfying driving experience; it suits you if you want the best-value entry point.
• X3 M50: This trim adds a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, M Sport rear differential, M Sport brakes, Adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and an exclusive exhaust system for the strongest performance and the most enthusiast-focused setup.

What BMW X3 do most buyers choose?

The BMW X3 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right colour, trim, and price. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the BMW X3's resale value?

Most BMW X3 model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The steepest drops are concentrated in older and mid-cycle years, while the newest recent years are falling more slowly. That pattern gives you a wider spread of price points to choose from.

The 2024, 2023, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
