What should I look for when buying a used Audi Q7?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Q7 with the 55 TFSI power plant at 13.0 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 10.0 on the highway, and 11.7 combined. If you’re looking for better fuel economy out of the Audi, you’ll have to jump down to the smaller engine with its 12.0 L/100 km city, 9.2 highway, and 10.7 combined.
• Infotainment: Audi’s Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system is housed on a 10.1-inch centre screen with a smaller screen below for HVAC controls, and wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto runs on the main screen.
• Safety package: The 2025 Q7 has blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cruise control, adaptive cruise control on upper trims, and self-parking for parallel and perpendicular spaces.

Which Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi Q7 offers these trims:

• Q7: The base trim is the best-value choice, and it pairs well with the more potent engine if you want stronger performance without moving up the trim ladder.
• Progressiv: This trim adds the 55 TFSI 3.0-litre turbo V6, making it a strong pick if you want the better-balanced powertrain.
• Technik: The top trim adds the most equipment and suits you if you want the most fully loaded Q7.

What Audi Q7 do most buyers choose?

The Audi Q7 years with the most listings are 2018, 2017, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find a well-priced example. They also sit in the part of the market where the Q7’s core strengths — space, comfort, and premium feel — are still easy to find at a used-car price.

What is the Audi Q7's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it opens up more value across the lineup. The newer years are still falling in double digits, while the oldest examples show smaller changes, which helps explain why they remain attractive entry points.

The 2015, 2014, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Audi Q7 safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2020: 8/10

The 2025 Q7 includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control on upper trims, and self-parking for parallel and perpendicular spaces.

For the safest used buy, the 2020 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used Audi Q7 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −9.28% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −10.27%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.1% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2018 model has the most listings at a current average price of $21,633 CAD. The Audi Q7 offers a spacious, upscale cabin that makes it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2025 Q7’s 45 TFSI is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that produces 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, while the 55 TFSI is a 3.0-litre turbo V6 with 335 ponies and 365 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: Audi’s Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system is housed on a 10.1-inch centre screen with a smaller screen below for HVAC controls, and new for this year is the Audi App Store, offering downloads of third-party programs like Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Music.
• Safety: The 2025 Q7 has blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cruise control, adaptive cruise control on upper trims, and self-parking in both parallel and perpendicular spaces.
• Starting price: In Canada, the 2025 Audi Q7 starts at $79,150.

If you're buying used today, the 2018 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
