Is the Audi Q5 a good car?

Yes — the Audi Q5 is a strong choice if you want a premium compact SUV with a polished cabin, smooth ride, and everyday practicality.

The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most worth watching on earlier model years, where reliability concerns are more common than on later second-generation versions.

What should I look for when buying a used Audi Q5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Active Front Assist, with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward cross-traffic alert, and braking and evasive steering assist.
• Infotainment: A 14.5-inch touchscreen, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Which Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Audi Q5 offers these trims:

• Base: Standard quattro all-wheel drive, a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four with 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, and an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster make this the best-value trim for most buyers.
• Progressiv: Adds more equipment and keeps the Q5’s core strengths of a hushed cabin, comfortable ride, and polished road manners.
• Technik: Adds the third 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen, plus available air springs and the most high-tech cabin presentation.

What Audi Q5 do most buyers choose?

The Audi Q5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right colour, trim, and price point. They also tend to attract shoppers looking for a newer Q5 with a strong mix of features and availability.

What is the Audi Q5's resale value?

Most Audi Q5 model years are down by double digits year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. The newest and pricier examples are still falling, but the overall pattern clearly favours shoppers looking for value. The smallest declines are still meaningful, so the model is broadly moving lower rather than holding steady.

The 2025, 2021, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Audi Q5 safe?

• 2026: 8/10
• 2025: 7/10
• 2023: 7/10
• 2021: 7/10
• 2018: 9/10

The latest model’s safety suite includes standard automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward cross-traffic alert, and braking and evasive steering assist.

For the safest used buy, the 2018 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
