Overall, the Volkswagen Scirocco has a strong legacy of performance and styling that owners truly appreciate. Across all model years, drivers consistently love its fun driving experience, sporty handling, and unique design. They also praise its reliability and economy. However, some feedback highlights concerns regarding power output in certain models, along with the challenges of maintenance due to their age. Despite these drawbacks, the Scirocco remains a beloved choice for those who enjoy a blend of classic charm and spirited driving.

I've had a Vw Scirocco for 4 years as my daily driver and I absolutely love it. The handling is crisp, the acceleration to 40 still is good enough to stomp most vehicles at red lights. And the off-road drive-ability is impressive. The road clearance and tough suspension allows all kinds of driving conditions. Easily I have driven the car on back dirt roads in excess of 55 mph with little trouble. The car just eats up the back roads.
PERFORMANCE- it's front wheel drive, so the zero to sixty time isn't amazing. However, what it may lack in acceleration it makes up for in the corners. The car is VERY light and it is flat through the corners. Steering feels heavy and you get good response from the road. There is no power steering but I don't miss it at all. BUILD QUALITY- It's German... it will survive the nuclear holocaust APPEARANCE- SEX COST- I paid $700 for it. It weighs nothing, it has a 1.7 titre engine, the gas is very cheap and if you drive normally, it just sips the fuel. FUN- well... It's light, flat through the corners and it's a scirocco... very fun!
The eighties, pet shop boys, Human League, Duran Duran, Stone Roses, The Smiths.ALF, Atari's, Roland Rat, a truly great era!, Then of course comes Lipps Inc, Steve Forbert, Terri Gibbs. Truly Truly awful. Then There are the cars Acura Legend, BMW M1, Delorean, Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa the golf and some not so good! The Sinclair C5, Yugo, And pretty anything from The brazier huggers at Leyland! Fortunately, for me buying on a whim this comes well and truly in the first list. This car is marmite, fair enough, but this car from the second you sit in it you are aware you are in a solid well built Germanic masterpiece! the second I started it up it I was rewarded with a raw I'd never heard from a 4 cylinder engine, Outside of an Alfa anyways, and take it past 4 thousand and wow! I love every second behind the wheel. Then threes the handling, it’s a very low car that corners like its on rails but when it does let go its very manageable. And I simply love walking to this car in a car park from every angle this car just hits the right buttons! That boot is somewhat huge too, could easily hide 3 bodies in there, 4 if u cut them up properly! Yes the gear change is hard, the clutch a bit too heavy and the standard bakes woefully inadequate and the dash which could never be described as attractive, conceder it perhaps Raisins in a good curry wrong but kind of right at the same time! In conclusion, if u like it I see no real reason not to snap one up! If u don't like its looks then u probably didn't bother reading this so there u go!
All around excellent performance and styling, Italian design with German engineering. All mechnical harmony with little electronics in the way these engines are near bullet proof! These cars are like go carts on winding roads with mearly a good set of shocks and springs
This was my second brand new Volkswagon from the same dealer in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This car was more of a sports car, although the four cylinder engine would, today, be considered to be underpowered. It came with a five speed transmission (manual), front wheel drive and fuel injection. Lots of fun and handled very well. This car even came with an AM/FM radio and A/C, although power windows and door locks were not included. Great hatchback with lots of space to carry luggage - the back seat was a little tight, but for a single guy, this car had tons of room. Also very economical to drive.
