What Volkswagen Golf R do most buyers choose?

The Volkswagen Golf R years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often when looking for a newer Golf R with a strong feature set.

What is the Volkswagen Golf R's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which creates better buying opportunities for used shoppers. The steepest drops are concentrated in the older and newest examples, while several other years show smaller declines that suggest steadier pricing. Should I buy a used Volkswagen Golf R now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −12.5% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −5.52%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.2% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 29.8%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The latest Golf R uses a 328-horsepower 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a seven-speed DSG automatic, while standard AWD sends up to 50% of torque to the rear wheels and up to 100% of that portion to an individual rear wheel via torque vectoring.
• Tech: The latest model adds a 12.9-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Safety: The latest model adds Travel Assist, which combines lane centring and adaptive cruise for highway driving, along with Emergency Assist.
• Starting price: The latest Golf R starts at $53,681 CAD.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
