The Peugeot 306 has received generally favorable feedback from owners across its model years. Drivers consistently enjoy its reliability, fun handling, and economical fuel consumption, making it an appealing option for those looking for an affordable runaround. However, some have pointed out drawbacks such as mediocre acceleration, engine noise, and electrical issues. Overall, it's seen as a solid performer for everyday driving, especially in terms of cost-efficiency.

What people say
Strong and fast. Holds very well on turns. Not for racing. Suspension is less delicate than it feels. Everything is expensive to replace. Not easy to break. In-cabin accessories are a pain in the ass because they get old in the sunshine. Beautiful car, outside more than inside. Maintenance very expensive! Very fun to drive, especially when driving hard.
Would own one again in a heartbeat - is the most fun car for it's size and cost
Has been a joy to own in the 5 years I've had it, during which I have covered nearly 100,000 miles and it has only left me stranded twice, with the first breakdown being a blown head gasket and the second a broken clutch cable. Handling is great, parts are cheap and readily available and the 1.9 turbo diesel engine is surprisingly nippy yet very good on fuel, averaging 500- 550 miles per tank. The main downside is that the engine sounds like a tractor when started from cold and is a little noisy at high speeds. All in all, a great car which will be sorely missed when crunch time comes.
I bought this car on ebay for £250, it had been stood for a year in a garage doing nothing, had to tow it home since battery was knackerd, fuel in it had gone off and it had no tax or mot anyway. Got it home, got a new battery for it and drained the old fuel and put some fresh diesel in it, had the engine running in seconds and it runs perfect. It only failed MOT on a bottom ball joint and a light bulb! So its in for its re-test on wednesday and its cost under £10 to fix it for Mot! Brilliant
This car has great handling and the suspension takes quite a beating without fault. Since I have the 1.4ltr model the accelaration is sub par and it will annoy you. To it's credit, it is a quite nice looking car
