Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.1 on the highway, and 7.1 combined in the S and SV trims, and 8.0 L/100 km city, 6.4 highway, and 7.2 combined in the SR trims.

Which Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Sentra offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim includes a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, LED headlights and taillights, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and a strong set of driver-assistance technologies.
• SV: This trim adds aluminium-alloy wheels, a larger 12.3-inch digital driver display, a heated steering wheel, and a power moonroof with manual sunshade; it is a strong value choice for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience.
• SV Premium: This trim builds on the SV with a more upscale equipment mix and sits in the sweet spot for buyers who want a richer feature set without moving to the top end.
• SR: This trim adds 18-inch wheels, a full-width LED taillight, heated wing mirrors, a power moonroof with manual sunshade, and a sportier appearance.

What Nissan Sentra do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Sentra years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they combine newer features, broader availability, and pricing that still sits below brand-new-car territory. More listings also usually mean more choice in colour, trim, and condition.

What is the Nissan Sentra's resale value?

Most Sentra model years are showing double-digit price declines, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more car for the money. The newer years are also falling meaningfully, so recent-model shoppers may find stronger value than they would expect. The smallest drops are still substantial, but they suggest some years are retaining value a bit better than others.

The 2016, 2023, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Nissan Sentra safe?

• 2026: 8/10
• 2024: 4/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 8/10

The 2026 Nissan Sentra includes Nissan Safety Shield 360, with automatic emergency braking, lane departure mitigation, forward collision warning, blind spot intervention, high-beam assist, and traffic sign recognition.

Should I buy a used Nissan Sentra now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −14.82% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −15.03%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.7%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $21,755 CAD. The Nissan Sentra offers a comfortable cabin and a practical, value-focused character that suits everyday commuting.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: A dual-overhead-cam 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine makes 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the SR Premium trim also receives an eight-speaker Bose stereo and a wireless device charger.
• Safety: Blind spot intervention also helps protect drivers and passengers from accidentally merging into traffic, an upgrade from the blind spot warning system that was standard in 2025.
• Starting price: The Sentra starts at $27,962 including destination charge and other fees.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
