What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: forward collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane keep assist, safe exit assist, and rear occupant alert.
- Infotainment: a 10.25-inch touchscreen with onboard navigation, Bluetooth, OTA map updates, dynamic voice recognition, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Which Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid offers these trims:
- Luxury: This is the hybrid-only trim in Canada for 2023, and it brings the hybrid powertrain, a strong equipment list, and the best-value case for shoppers who want the Santa Fe Hybrid’s core strengths in one package.
What Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid do most buyers choose?
The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Higher-listing model years tend to draw more shopper attention because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right colour, mileage, and price. They also often become the default starting point for buyers who want the newest design and features.
What is the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2021 | $24,992 CAD | −19.38% |
| 2023 | $32,160 CAD | −16.65% |
| 2022 | $28,308 CAD | −9.83% |
| 2024 | $43,890 CAD | −3.41% |
Most model years in this lineup have moved lower over the past year, which can work in your favour if you are shopping used. The largest drops are concentrated in the older and mid-cycle years, while the newest year has changed the least. That pattern suggests recent inventory has become more approachable without erasing the appeal of newer examples.
The 2024, 2022, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid safe?
- 2023: 8/10
For the safest used buy, the 2023 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

So far, this has been one of the best hybrids I’ve ever owned. Extremely smooth, both hybrid system and ride. Averaging around 34 mpg. It has enough power to get the job done. Best of all it doesn’t have a CVT.

Honestly I love my car. I love all of the Bella and whistles so to speak. Only thing is there no where for my sunglasses. That my only complaint. Great mileage! Roomy seats. It’s everything I wanted.

Why it stands out
The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as a three-row SUV that blends a practical hybrid powertrain with a long list of standard features. It is part of the second generation, which debuted as a 2024 model, and that redesign brought boxy, utilitarian styling, a standard third row of seats, and a larger footprint than before. It also comes with HTRAC all-wheel drive in Canada, and its hybrid setup pairs a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric hybrid motor and a six-speed automatic transmission.
For 2025, the hybrid powertrain was reduced to the Preferred model only, but that trim still includes a strong equipment list. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument panel, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment is similarly generous, with forward collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, a driver condition monitor, and a safe rear-passenger exit warning system.
The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is also appealing for its efficiency and comfort. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.9 combined, while the ride is described as soft enough to absorb most road imperfections without feeling floaty on the highway. At the same time, its styling remains polarising, and its acceleration is on the slow side for the class, taking just over eight seconds to reach 100 km/h.
