Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Overview

Introduced in 1999, the Chevrolet Silverado quickly became the second-best-selling truck in America (after the Ford F150). Sharing a platform with the GMC Sierra, the Silverado was designed to project an image as the tougher of the two platforms, which was reflected in the truck's Like a Rock advertising and marketing campaigns.

The Silverado was completely new inside and out, with rugged styling, new standard features, and updated mechanicals such as brakes and engines.

The truck also was available with regular or extended cabs, with short or long beds, and with two-wheel or four-wheel drive. Heavy duty models were also available.

The standard engine was a Silverado was a 270-horsepower, 5.3-liter V8, while the four-wheel-drive and heavy duty models received a 300-horsepower, 6.0-liter V8.

For 2000, two new trim packages, the LT and the LS, were added, and power was bumped up for some models.

In 2001, all Silverado models were available with a new 300-horsepower, 6.0-liter Vortec V8, and in 2003 the truck received an exterior redesign.

In its final year, the Silverado 2500 received a number of new standard features, including cruise control, power door locks, and a new AM/FM audio system with a CD player. The following year, the 2500 gave way to the 2500HD (for heavy duty) models of the Silverado.

I absolutely love my truck. great performance and handling except its a boat and has no turning radius. gas mileage is terrible but who cares gas is cheap. could use a little more for balls but thats nothing a couple of relatively cheap parts cant fix.

Having been raised on a farm, I know a thing or two about trucks. This Chevy has a 6.6 Duramax that will outrun most cars, let alone other trucks. It gets great mileage (20 highway), has a ton of torque, and is an excellent driver. As far as appearance goes, its a truck. Its no supermodel, its built to get the job done. The interior is actually almost too nice for what I do with it. Overall it is an excellent truck.

My baby girl is an absolute gorgeous truck,You get an adrenaline rush just driving it up the road,has so much power and pull.You need something to get the job done? This truck will pull through every time.I guarentee this truck 100% safe.Pure love on wheels.Can't go wrong with a chevy.I deff. recommend.

good work truck , bad gas mileage and slow acceleration, its geared so low for towing. it will haul about anything but it doesnt accelerate as fast as most vehicles will. 4x4 works great , thinking about lifting it 6 to 9 inches and puttin some 35's or 38's on it. Super Swamper TSL's

Everythings great untill you hit the pumps. It looks great, has lots of power, tows very well, incredible in the snow, reliable, roomy interior, gets 10mpg, stereo is not very good. Ya that about sums it up. I would definatly buy another.
