What should I look for when buying a used Chevrolet Camaro?
Key things to evaluate:
- Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four paired with the manual gearbox gets a Natural Resources Canada estimated 12.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 8.0 on the highway, and 10.5 combined. Its eight-speed automatic counterpart gets 10.9 in the city, 7.8 on the highway, and 9.5 combined. The same pattern holds true for the V6, which has its manual achieve 14.4/9.0/12.0 L/100 km city/highway/combined fuel consumption with the 10-speed automatic getting 12.8/8.1/10.7 city/highway/combined. The more powerful V8 engines are nearly equally as fuel-efficient with either transmission. The 6.2-litre V8 with the 6-speed manual transmission sees 14.9/9.9/12.6 L/100 km city/highway/combined while the automatic gets 14.6/8.9/12.0 L/100 km city/highway/combined. The supercharged V8 version of the Camaro 17.2/12.0/14.8 L/100 km with the manual and 18.3/11.2/15.1 L/100 km with the automatic.
Which Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro offers these trims:
- 1LS: The entry coupe trim gives you the Camaro’s core rear-wheel-drive performance character and is the starting point for the lineup.
- 1LT: A strong value pick that adds more equipment while keeping the Camaro’s accessible performance focus.
- 2LT: This trim builds on the 1LT with more standard equipment and is a good fit if you want a more upscale daily driver.
- 3LT: A better-equipped choice for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience features.
- LT1: A smart step for buyers who want V8 power with a more approachable setup.
- 1SS: This is where the Camaro’s daily-driver performance character becomes especially compelling.
- 2SS: A well-equipped performance trim that adds more premium content and suits buyers who want a richer feature set.
- ZL1: The most performance-focused variant, aimed at buyers who want the Camaro’s highest-output character.

2014 Camaro LT review, this one being the 3.6L 6 speed manual car. I can say for a 6 cyl it still makes a fun sports car, especially if put on a good set of 20" rims with performance tires, they can really handle corners better than expected. The 5th gen Camaro overall is an excellent sturdy car, the type of car you can jump in and drive cross country with 50,000 miles or 300,000 miles on the clock and you know it will just get there every time. I used to commute 2 1/2 hours with this car and it averaged 32 miles per gallon, in instances with long flat roads it exceeded that even. The cons, the small windows can be a bit unnerving to get used to at first, after driving the car for a couple months it becomes a non issue and pretty easy to park anywhere. The paint is thin, and prone to chips and scratches, the interior fades and scratches easily, and if you have cloth seats they stain and tear easily.. Mechanically the car is rock solid as long as your aware of the timing chain service every 130k miles or so, and the fact the synchro's in the v6 manual are not for racing.. If your ok with those two gripes, there is nothing mechanically that will ever be an issue with these cars. They are very well supported in the aftermarket as well for parts.

I love the car! Most if any complaints focus on the visibility but I quickly adjusted to it. The handling, engine performance, control convenience, and comfort are all great for this price.

The LS3 motor truly is a work of art, gobs of power and torque on demand at any rpm, and that doesn't even mention the sound from the car. Despite the performance, there is plenty of comfort with these beautiful leather seats. The back up camera could use lines to help you see where your car is going to be placed, but of course there's good old fashion mirrors for that. The blindspots are pretty large but with some smart mirror placement they go away pretty easily. I've dreamed of owning a Camaro since 2010 when I was just 8 years old, having one now is surreal and this car has far exceeded the expectations I've been building up for over a decade.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro stands out as a lighter, smaller, tauter, and more efficient take on Chevy’s long-running performance car, with world-class power and driving dynamics wrapped in faintly retro styling. It was available as a coupe or convertible, and Chevrolet gave buyers a broad spread of engines: a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6-litre V6, and a Corvette-sourced 6.2-litre V8. The standard six-speed manual transmission added downshift rev-matching with the V8, while an eight-speed automatic was also available. For shoppers who want a Camaro that feels modern without losing the model’s muscle-car character, that combination is a major part of the appeal.
This model year also brought useful equipment and trim variety. The 2018 Camaro added a more affordable 1LS coupe trim and a ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance package. Earlier sixth-generation features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were already part of the car’s appeal, and the lineup also included leather-equipped “2” trims with more standard equipment and exclusive options. On the downside, the Camaro’s interior remained one of its weaker points, with cheaply outfitted plastics, and outward visibility was poor except during top-down driving in the convertible. Reliability is generally above average, but the sixth-generation cars from 2016 to 2018 are noted as the most problematic, with trunk leaks that can lead to electrical issues.
