What should I look for when buying a used Cadillac Escalade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Super Cruise, automatic emergency braking with front and rear pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors with lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and GM's Safety Alert Seat.
• Infotainment: A 55-inch curved display with a digital instrument cluster, a 35-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 20-inch front passenger screen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 15.0 L/100 km combined, and our observed 14.3 L/100 km over 500 mostly highway kilometres confirms that figure is, if anything, overly optimistic.

Which Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2026 Cadillac Escalade offers these trims:

• Escalade: The base livery-spec trim starts the lineup and gives you the Escalade’s standard 6.2-litre V8, 10-speed automatic, 4WD, Super Cruise, and broad standard safety suite; it suits buyers who want the core Escalade experience.
• Sport: Adds the blacked-out exterior treatment with dark window surrounds, black roof rails, and a mesh grille for a more aggressive look.
• Luxury: Brings a more chrome-heavy exterior treatment for buyers who prefer a brighter appearance.
• Platinum Sport: Adds the premium cabin treatment with semi-aniline leather, faceted quilting, leather door trim, a microsuede headliner, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and standard dual 12.6-inch second-row entertainment screens; this is the best-value trim if you want the richest mix of luxury and equipment.

What Cadillac Escalade do most buyers choose?

The Cadillac Escalade years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, colour, and price. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The newer years are also easing, though the size of the drops varies quite a bit across the lineup. One model year is still up slightly, showing that not every Escalade is moving in the same direction.

The 2017, 2025, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Cadillac Escalade safe?

• 2026: 6/10
• 2025: 6/10
• 2023: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10
• 2021: 8/10

Super Cruise is standard across the lineup.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 and 2022 models both post the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used Cadillac Escalade now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −4.29% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −12.29%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 30.4% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 25.7%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $95,545 CAD. The Cadillac Escalade offers a commanding presence, a spacious cabin, and a strong mix of comfort and technology.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The latest model pairs a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and Natural Resources Canada estimates 15.0 L/100 km combined.
• Tech: The latest model brings a 55-inch curved display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard Super Cruise.
• Safety: The latest model adds automatic emergency braking with front and rear pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors with lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and GM's Safety Alert Seat.
• Starting price: The latest model starts in Canada at $124,199.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
