What should I look for when buying a used Cadillac Escalade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Super Cruise, automatic emergency braking with front and rear pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitors with lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, GM's Safety Alert Seat, and Teen Driver.
• Infotainment: a 55-inch curved display with a digital instrument cluster, a 35-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 20-inch front passenger screen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 15.0 L/100 km combined, and our observed 14.3 L/100 km over 500 mostly highway kilometres confirms that figure is, if anything, overly optimistic.

Which Cadillac Escalade trim should I buy?

The 2026 Cadillac Escalade offers these trims:

• Escalade: the base model starts the lineup with the 6.2-litre V8, 10-speed automatic, standard 4WD, and the Escalade's core luxury and technology package; it suits buyers who want the full-size Cadillac experience at the entry point.
• Luxury: adds a more chrome-heavy look and is aimed at shoppers who prefer a brighter exterior treatment.
• Sport: adds a blacked-out exterior treatment with dark window surrounds, black roof rails, and a mesh grille for a more aggressive appearance.
• Platinum Luxury: builds on the Luxury theme with a more upscale presentation and premium cabin detailing.
• Platinum Sport: adds the blacked-out Sport look along with leather door trim, a microsuede headliner, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a cabin that reads as genuinely premium; this is the best-value trim for buyers who want the richest mix of presence and equipment.
• V-Series: adds the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 with 682 hp for buyers who want maximum performance.

What Cadillac Escalade do most buyers choose?

The Cadillac Escalade years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right colour, trim, and price. They also sit in the heart of the model's recent redesign era, which makes them especially appealing to shoppers who want newer features without moving all the way to the newest model year.

What is the Cadillac Escalade's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. The steepest drops are concentrated in older and recent model years alike, while one year is moving up slightly. Overall, the table points to a market where many Escalade shoppers can find meaningful savings versus a year ago.

The 2017, 2025, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Cadillac Escalade safe?

• 2026: 6/10
• 2025: 6/10
• 2023: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10
• 2021: 8/10

Super Cruise is standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a used Cadillac Escalade now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −4.14% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −12.55%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2026 Cadillac Escalade is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and Natural Resources Canada estimates 15.0 L/100 km combined.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

How does the 2021 Cadillac Escalade compare to the 2021 Lincoln Navigator?

Our experts score the 2021 Cadillac Escalade 8.2/10 and the 2021 Lincoln Navigator 7.7/10. The Escalade leans harder into bold styling, advanced technology, and a more commanding road presence, while the Navigator brings a strong case for interior space and its own upscale cabin quality. Both are large luxury SUVs with similar deal shares, but the Escalade's tech-forward personality gives it the edge for shoppers who want the most distinctive experience.
