What should I look for when buying a used Audi A4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Choose the Audi A4 40 TFSI, and you’ll get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine generating underwhelming power specs of 201 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It uses a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) to power the standard Quattro Ultra all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, and earns a Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating of 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. Our A4 45 TFSI test car brought 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque to the party. The A4 45 TFSI accelerates to 100 km/h in roughly 5.4 seconds, and Natural Resources Canada says you should expect to get 8.8 L/100 km in combined driving.
• Infotainment: It uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen display and features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Audi Connect connected services, wireless smartphone charging, a navigation system, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
• Safety package: Under the Audi Pre Sense umbrella, the A4 Technik includes front and rear collision preparation, a forward-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist low-speed driving assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe exit warning system, a surround-view camera system, and Park Assist parking-assistance technology.

The 2022 Audi A4 offers these trims:

• 40 TFSI: The entry powertrain brings the 2.0-litre turbo-four, seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic, and Quattro Ultra AWD. It suits you if you want the most accessible way into the A4 lineup.
• 45 TFSI: This version adds stronger output, a lowered sport suspension as part of the S-line package, and a more engaging drive. It stands out as the best-value trim for shoppers who want the A4’s core strengths with more punch.
• Technik: This trim adds the most complete safety and convenience content, including Audi Pre Sense features, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera system, and Park Assist. It suits you if you want the most fully equipped A4.

What Audi A4 do most buyers choose?
