Used 2027 BMW X5 for Sale near Coutts, AB

Is the 2027 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2027 BMW X5 earns an 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It drives as well as before, and the interior takes a step forward. The trade-offs are that cargo space takes a step backward, and the number of software features is overwhelming. It also has a 20% share of listings priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is at least some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2027 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2027 BMW X5 is a new redesign, so long-term ownership risk is higher for used buyers than it would be for a carryover model.

Its powertrain is built around a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and BMW says the Miller cycle helps improve efficiency. The engine is described as smooth and free of vibration, which is a good sign for day-to-day refinement and durability-minded ownership. BMW also positions the X5 as a luxury SUV with a quiet cabin and strong everyday comfort, which supports the idea that it should be pleasant to live with over time.

If you’re buying used, the main risk is that this first-year redesign brings a lot of new hardware and software, so you’ll want to be especially careful about early-production quirks and feature complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base cabin uses Veganza artificial leather, while Merino leather upholstery and Alcantara door panel trim are available. The interior also centres on BMW’s new display-heavy layout, so you should make sure you’re comfortable with the futuristic controls and the amount of screen interaction required.
• Powertrain: In Canada, you get a single powertrain: the X5 40 xDrive with a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, eight-speed automatic transmission, AWD, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. BMW says it produces 394 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automated lane centring, and safe exit assist. Highway Assistant is available, along with park-assist features such as a surround-view camera system, Maneuver Assistant, and semi-automated parking.
• Infotainment: The setup combines a Panoramic Vision display with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and an optional 14.6-inch front passenger touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and over-the-air software capability is part of the new system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 9.1 litres per 100 kilometres combined, with 9.6 city and 8.4 highway.

Which 2027 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2027 BMW X5 is offered in 1 trim level: X5 40 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

The X5 40 xDrive is the only Canadian trim, so your decision is really about how you equip it. It already gives you the core BMW experience: the inline-six powertrain, AWD, adaptive damping, and the full new interior and infotainment overhaul. If you want the best value, focus on the options that matter most to you rather than chasing a higher trim that doesn’t exist here. The safety package is strong at this trim level, with lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automated lane centring, and safe exit assist included.

Should I buy a 2027 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 20% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The redesigned X5 drives as well as before while the interior takes a step forward.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It offers four versions and a broader range of choices.

The bottom line: If you want the newest X5 with the fresh design, updated tech, and the strongest current-market shopping opportunity, the 2027 is the one to target. If you’d rather have more trim variety and a more established model year, the 2026 is the safer alternative for price-sensitive buyers.
