Subaru’s four-cylinder boxer engine and continuously variable transmission keep the vehicle straightforward, which suits daily use and winter driving well.

For 2026, the lineup also adds a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, with Subaru saying it delivers combined 194 horsepower, improved fuel economy, and nearly all the available cargo space. The broader model also benefits from an 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on most trims, plus a new Subaru EyeSight driver assist package with wider-view cameras.

If you want a compact utility vehicle that balances everyday practicality, all-weather confidence, and a useful range of trims and equipment, the Crosstrek makes a strong case. 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a useful market signal when shopping.
