New & Used 2026 Kia Sportage for Sale nearSalt Spring Island, BC

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2026 Kia Sportage earns a 7.33/10 from our experts, and it fits well if you want a compact crossover that leans into style, technology, and safety rather than driving excitement. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Its refreshed styling gives it a more truck-like look, and the overall package feels modern and well rounded. The Sportage also brings impressive technology and strong safety ratings, which help it stand out in a crowded segment. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and an X-Pro value proposition that doesn’t translate to Canada.

With 36.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, there’s a meaningful amount of market activity to compare.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2026 Kia Sportage comes across as a competent, mainstream compact SUV with a strong warranty and a powertrain lineup that includes conventional gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. The gas engine is described as doing just fine, while the hybrid and plug-in hybrid are more refined thanks to their turbocharged and electrified setups.

Kia’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre limited warranty, including the powertrain, is a useful ownership perk for Canadian buyers. The Sportage’s long-running nameplate and current-generation maturity also support the sense that it has evolved into a well-sorted product.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base gas model is not the most efficient or engaging choice, so you’ll want to be sure the version you buy matches how you plan to use it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the entry point, while LX AWD, X-Line, EX, EX Premium, and X-Line Limited are also available. The EX Premium trim adds 19-inch wheels, and the X-Line models bring off-road appearance packages with different front and rear bumpers, a tread-like stitching pattern for SynTex artificial leather upholstery, and all-season tires on 19-inch wheels. The best-value trim depends on whether you want the lowest price or more convenience and style, but the X-Line models are more about appearance than true off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: The non-hybrid model uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions use a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor integrated with the transmission, making them more refined and more powerful.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and lane following assist. Higher trim levels also feature Highway Driving Assist, which adds automated lane centring. Front and rear parking sensors are available, along with a surround-view camera system and blind-spot view monitor.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard, and the X-Line Limited adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless phone charging is standard on all but the base LX trim level, and the X-Line Limited also gets a Harman Kardon premium audio system, head-up display, and digital key functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid Sportage is rated at 8.3 L/100 km combined with FWD and 8.9 L/100 km combined with AWD. The Sportage Hybrid is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined, and the plug-in hybrid can travel up to 53 kilometres on electric power alone.

Which 2026 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, LX AWD, X-Line, EX, EX Premium, and X-Line Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Sportage, and it makes sense if you want the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the core safety suite without paying for extras.
• LX AWD: Choose this if you want the base gas model with all-wheel drive, which is the better fit if you need extra traction and don’t mind paying more than the front-wheel-drive LX.
• X-Line: This is the style-focused step up, with the off-road appearance package treatment and 19-inch wheels, but it is still more about looks than added capability.
• EX: This trim is the sensible middle ground if you want a broader feature set without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• EX Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 19-inch wheels and moves you closer to the more upscale end of the lineup without going fully loaded.
• X-Line Limited: This is the most feature-rich choice, with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon premium audio, head-up display, digital key functionality, and the horizontal display layout that blends the cluster and touchscreen into one unit.

Higher trim levels also feature the Highway Driving Assist system, and the surround-view camera system and blind-spot view monitor are available.

Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and lane following assist.
