Used 2026 Kia Sportage for Sale nearKingston, ON

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2026 Kia Sportage earns a 7.3/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

For 2026, the Sportage gets revised styling, and the refreshed look helps keep it competitive in the compact crossover segment. The overview also points to a blend of style, safety, and technology as the main appeal, which lines up with the expert verdict that it delivers competent execution. The main trade-off is performance: the Sportage is described as fairly pedestrian, and the expert notes that the transmission could react quicker.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact crossover that leans into design, safety, and tech rather than outright pace. With 38.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market also gives you a decent number of value opportunities.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is presented as a well-rounded compact crossover with a strong safety record and a long warranty, which both support confidence for everyday use. The expert assessment also describes the current-generation Sportage as competent, and the overview highlights its blend of style, safety, and technology rather than any major mechanical concern.

From the performance notes, the non-hybrid 2.5-litre four-cylinder is described as doing just fine, even if it is the least powerful option in the lineup. Kia also backs the Sportage with a 5-year/100,00-kilometre limited warranty, including the powertrain, which is a useful ownership perk for Canadian buyers.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about living with the base powertrain’s modest performance than worrying about the Sportage’s overall dependability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the only front-wheel-drive version, while all other Canadian versions come with all-wheel drive. The X-Line models add off-road appearance packages with different front and rear bumpers, tread-like stitching on the SynTex artificial leather upholstery, and all-season tires on 19-inch wheels. The EX Premium also gets 19-inch wheels, while other trims use 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: Non-hybrid models use a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions use a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor integrated with the transmission, with the hybrid rated at 232 hp and the plug-in hybrid at 268 hp.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and lane following assist. Higher trims also add Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centring, while front and rear parking sensors are available. The Sportage also received the highest Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five stars in frontal and side crash testing and four stars for rollover crash performance.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless phone charging is standard on all but the base LX trim level, and the X-Line Limited adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a head-up display, and digital key functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid Sportage is rated at 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined with FWD and 8.9 L/100 km combined with AWD. The hybrid is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined, and the plug-in hybrid gets up to 53 kilometres of all-electric driving.

Which 2026 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX AWD, X-Line, EX, EX Premium, and X-Line Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point and the cheapest way into the Sportage, but it is also the only front-wheel-drive version. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up the extra equipment found higher up the range.
• LX AWD: This is the best-value trim if you want the Sportage’s core strengths with all-wheel drive. It keeps the lineup’s affordable starting point while adding the traction advantage most Canadian shoppers will want.
• X-Line: This trim adds the X-Line appearance treatment and moves you into all-wheel drive. It suits you if you want a more rugged look without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• EX: This is the middle-ground choice if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and value. It sits above the entry trims without pushing into the pricier feature-heavy versions.
• EX Premium: This is the trim to target if you want the strongest blend of comfort and equipment. It adds 19-inch wheels and sits in the sweet spot before the top trim’s more luxury-like features.
• X-Line Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Harman Kardon premium audio, head-up display, and digital key functionality. Choose it if you want the most technology and convenience features in the lineup.

Higher trim levels also feature the Highway Driving Assist system, which adds automated lane centring.
