New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearSault Ste. Marie, ON

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — the 2026 Hyundai Kona earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to a well-rounded small SUV with broad appeal. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The Kona stands out as a subcompact SUV that tries to balance style, space, and equipment without losing its familiar identity. Hyundai gave this generation more room inside and greater cargo capacity, and the updated shape is still recognisably a Kona. For you, that means a small SUV that feels more substantial than before, especially if everyday practicality matters.

The main trade-offs are that the base engine is not especially lively and the Kona’s strongest draw is the mix of useful technology, available all-wheel drive, and a cabin that is more accommodating than before. If you want a distinctive-looking small SUV with a strong feature list and more everyday usability than the earlier version, it makes a convincing case.

34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a moderate amount of market choice.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Kona’s overall package suggests solid day-to-day dependability, with a strong warranty and a feature set that is designed to reduce stress in regular use. Its standard equipment is generous, and the available technology and driver-assistance systems point to a vehicle built to be easy to live with.

Hyundai also backs the Kona with a 5-year/100,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper warranty and complimentary roadside assistance for five years and unlimited kilometres, which helps lower ownership anxiety.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the base powertrain is not especially robust-feeling, so you should pay close attention to how the drivetrain and brakes behave on a test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and N Line trims differ in wheel size, styling details, and equipment. The base trim gets the core Kona experience, but higher trims add more comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-litre engine makes 147 horsepower and uses a CVT, while the N Line uses a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine with 190 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic. The turbo model is the one to choose if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning. The Preferred adds adaptive cruise control and a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or when an oncoming vehicle is headed straight for the Kona.
• Infotainment: The Kona has a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The N Line adds dual 12.3-inch screens, while wireless smartphone charging and digital key functionality come with the Preferred’s Trend package.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings range from 7.5 to 8.6 L/100 km in combined driving, depending on trim and whether AWD is selected. The turbocharged version is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined with standard AWD.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Kona’s core strengths, including the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the extra convenience and performance upgrades.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades, including adaptive cruise control and the collision-avoidance feature for left turns and oncoming traffic. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and value, this is the one to target.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, the eight-speed automatic, standard AWD, and the sportier character that comes with the top trim. It also brings the dual 12.3-inch screen setup and the most advanced available tech, but it is the priciest choice.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, and the Preferred trim adds useful driver-assistance features without pushing you all the way to the top of the range.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona’s standard driver-assistance suite is extensive for the segment. Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning. The Preferred trim adds adaptive cruise control and a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or when an oncoming vehicle is headed straight for the Kona.

The N Line’s available Ultimate package adds a camera-based Blind-View Monitor, a surround-view camera system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. That system combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist, and it works well.

The Kona’s four-star NHTSA result is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It carries over with no changes and keeps its strong technology and safety package.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It is mostly unchanged and already well regarded.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of the Kona’s strong safety and tech package, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you are shopping mainly on price, the 2025 may be worth a look because it delivers much of the same appeal with a potentially lower asking price.
