New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearIngersoll, ON

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — you rate it 4/5, and our experts score it 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona stands out in the subcompact crossover class for its size, passenger room, and cargo volume. It also offers turbocharging and all-wheel drive, and its technology is described as impressive for the class. Hyundai carries the Kona over into the 2026 model year with no changes, so this version’s appeal is rooted in the same broad strengths rather than a fresh update.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is the most controversial part of the package, and the base powertrain is described as unimpressive. There is also no hybrid option, and some controls are hard to read. Even so, the combination of space, available turbo power, available all-wheel drive, and a strong warranty makes the 2026 Hyundai Kona a compelling small SUV for buyers who can live with its polarising design.

33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Kona’s reliability case is supported by its strong warranty coverage, with a 5-year/100,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper warranty and five years of unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance in Canada. The model is also described as a carryover with no changes, which can be reassuring if you prefer a proven package over a first-year redesign.

Its standard and available equipment also points to a well-developed vehicle rather than a bare-bones one, and the expert assessment highlights the Kona as a strong value proposition overall. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the concept and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding the base setup if you want the most satisfying day-to-day experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and N Line trims differ by wheel size, design details, and equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more, especially if you care about stronger performance and richer cabin tech.
• Powertrain: The Essential and Preferred use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 hp and a CVT, while the N Line upgrades to a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 190 hp, 195 lb-ft of torque, and an eight-speed automatic. The turbo version is the one to seek if you want better acceleration and a more satisfying drivetrain.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning. The Preferred adds adaptive cruise control and a left-turn collision-avoidance system, while the N Line Ultimate package adds a camera-based Blind-View Monitor, surround-view camera system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: Every Kona gets a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and BlueLink connected services. The N Line adds dual 12.3-inch screens, while the Preferred Trend package adds wireless smartphone charging and digital key functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings range from 7.5 to 8.6 L/100 km combined, depending on trim and whether AWD is selected. The turbocharged version is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined with standard AWD, and testing returned 8.9 L/100 km.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it is also the trim most likely to feel basic if you want stronger acceleration or more upscale features. It makes sense if you want the Kona’s space and standard safety equipment at the lowest price.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful convenience and safety upgrades, including adaptive cruise control and the left-turn collision-avoidance system. If you want a more complete everyday package without jumping to the sportier model, this is the one to target.
• N Line: This is the trim to buy if you want the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, the eight-speed automatic, and the more advanced dual-screen setup. It also brings the most available tech and driver-assistance content, but it is the priciest choice.

The Preferred adds the extra safety features, while the N Line Ultimate package layers on the most advanced camera and parking aids.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona’s standard driver-assistance list is unusually comprehensive for the segment, with forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning. The Preferred trim adds adaptive cruise control and a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or when an oncoming vehicle is headed straight for the Kona.

Higher trims can add even more protection and convenience. The N Line Ultimate package includes a camera-based Blind-View Monitor, surround-view camera system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. The main caveat is the four-star NHTSA result, which reflects four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2026 if:

  • 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
  • Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
  • It carries over unchanged, so you are getting the same broad strengths in space, tech, and safety.

• Consider the 2025 if:

  • It offers the same roomy, practical Kona formula with no major changes.

• The bottom line: If you want the current Kona’s mix of space, technology, and safety, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you are price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers a very similar ownership experience.
