New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale near Haileybury, ON

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — the 2026 Hyundai Kona earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, which puts it in a strong position for used shoppers who want a subcompact SUV with more space and more equipment than many rivals. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The Kona’s appeal is rooted in its roomier cabin, greater cargo capacity, and broad feature set. Hyundai also keeps the familiar Kona identity intact, so you get a small SUV that feels more substantial without losing its distinctive look.

The trade-offs are worth noting: the base engine is not especially lively, and the design will not suit everyone. Even so, the combination of useful technology, available all-wheel drive, and everyday practicality makes it a convincing choice for shoppers who value substance over outright speed.

With 33.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is still a meaningful amount of market opportunity.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 Kona is presented as a carryover model with no major changes, which supports the sense that Hyundai is building on an established package rather than experimenting with it. The expert assessment also points to a strong warranty and complimentary roadside assistance, both of which help reduce ownership anxiety.

The performance notes suggest the powertrains are straightforward rather than complicated, with the base engine and CVT aimed at efficiency and the turbocharged setup reserved for higher trims. That simplicity can be a plus for long-term ownership, especially if you want a used SUV with a familiar mechanical layout.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding a version whose ride or braking behaviour does not suit your driving style.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and N Line trims differ in wheel design and equipment, with the base trim missing some of the richer features found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-litre engine makes 147 horsepower and uses a CVT, while the N Line gets a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine with 190 horsepower, 195 pound-feet of torque, and an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning. The Preferred adds adaptive cruise control and a left-turn collision-avoidance system, while the N Line Ultimate package adds a camera-based Blind-View Monitor, surround-view camera system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: The Kona has a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and BlueLink connected services. The N Line adds a second 12.3-inch display, while wireless charging and digital key functionality come with the Preferred Trend package.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings range from 7.5 to 8.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, depending on trim and AWD. The turbocharged setup is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined with standard AWD, and testing returned 8.9 L/100 km.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Kona’s core strengths, including the standard touchscreen and the full suite of standard driver-assistance features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds adaptive cruise control and the left-turn collision-avoidance system, while also unlocking more convenience-focused equipment through available packages.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the strongest performance and the sportiest character. It brings the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, the eight-speed automatic, standard all-wheel drive, and the more upscale dual-screen setup.

The safety package is especially generous across the range, but the Preferred and N Line add meaningful extras if you want more advanced driver assistance.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The imperfect score is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona’s standard safety equipment is unusually comprehensive for the class. You get forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant warning, and safe exit warning.

Higher trims add more advanced assistance. The Preferred includes adaptive cruise control and a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or when an oncoming vehicle is headed straight for the Kona. The N Line Ultimate package adds a camera-based Blind-View Monitor, surround-view camera system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It carries over with no changes while keeping its roomy cabin, strong tech, and Top Safety Pick+ rating.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It is a mostly unchanged second-generation SUV with a practical bent and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of space, technology, and safety, the 2026 is the better default choice. If you are shopping mainly on price and find a cleaner or cheaper 2025, that earlier model should still deliver much of the same everyday usefulness.
