New & Used 2026 GMC Canyon for Sale near Perrault Falls, ON

Is the 2026 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2026 GMC Canyon earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon stands out as one of the most luxurious midsize pickup trucks and one of the most capable off-road. It has a stylish design, is fun to drive, and brings impressive technology to the segment, which makes it especially appealing if you want a truck that feels more upscale than basic.

The trade-offs are real, though: fuel economy needs improvement, value for money is weak, and the back seat is cramped. Even so, its strong powertrain, user-friendly tech, and off-road ability make it a likeable pickup for shoppers who prioritise capability and a more premium feel.

26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Canyon is positioned as a refined midsize truck with a strong powertrain and a premium-feeling cabin, and its expert evaluation points to solid day-to-day usability. Its turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine is described as capable, quick enough in a straight line, and strong on mountain grades, which supports confidence in how it should hold up in regular use.

The truck also includes a broad set of standard safety and driver-assistance features, and the AT4X adds more equipment on top. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its poor fuel economy and higher running costs may make it less satisfying if you plan to rack up a lot of kilometres.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canyon’s trims differ mainly in cabin materials, off-road hardware, and premium touches. The base Elevation can feel cheap for the price, while higher trims bring richer colour schemes and better materials. The AT4X is the most extreme off-road version, but its bold interior theme may not suit everyone.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, four-wheel drive is standard, and a two-speed transfer case is standard on all versions except the base Elevation.
• Safety package: Every Canyon includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and Teen Driver technology. The AT4X adds adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, rear pedestrian alert, and a Safety Alert Seat.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital driver display and an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built in. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with SiriusXM 360L, OnStar connected services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The AT4X also adds wireless smartphone charging and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Canyon’s fuel economy is poor. The AT4X is rated at 14 litres per 100 kilometres combined, and the truck’s highway efficiency drops as speed rises.

Which 2026 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2026 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it can feel cheap for the price. It makes sense if you want the Canyon’s core capability and standard 4WD without paying for the more luxurious or more specialised trims.
• AT4: This is the best-value choice for many buyers because it adds a more serious off-road focus and sits in the middle of the range without jumping all the way to the top-shelf pricing.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup. It shifts the Canyon further toward luxury with richer materials and a more premium presentation.
• AT4X: This is the most capable off-road version, with more sophisticated underpinnings, available Multimatic DSSV dampers, mud-terrain tyres, locking differentials, hill descent control, and extra ground clearance. It suits you best if off-road performance matters more than value.

The AT4X also gets the available safety upgrades, including adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, rear pedestrian alert, and a Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 GMC Canyon?

Is the 2026 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2026 GMC Canyon earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it a Good rating in the small overlap frontal-impact test and the updated side-impact test. It also received a three-star rating for front occupant side-impact protection and rollover resistance from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Canyon comes with forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and Teen Driver technology. The AT4X adds adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, rear pedestrian alert, and a Safety Alert Seat.

The main caveat is that the Canyon’s safety ratings need improvement, and the expert review also notes a Poor rating for front-crash prevention tech from IIHS.

Should I buy a 2026 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 26.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the 2026 model: GMC adds a new Coastal Dune paint colour, makes the Canyon AT4 available with a Nightfall Essential Package, and offers a lift kit for the AT4X.

The bottom line: If you want the Canyon’s upscale feel, strong powertrain, and off-road capability, the 2026 model is an easy one to consider. If price matters more than premium features, you may want to shop carefully and compare other years or trims for better value.
