How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Prices have softened 13.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 142 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 7.3/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a three-row crossover SUV that tries to bridge the gap between minivans and full-size body-on-frame SUVs, giving you a roomy cabin and a comfortable ride in a crossover package. The Traverse’s strongest qualities are its spacious interior, pleasant ride, and extensive safety equipment, while its technology is also a clear strength.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: the engine is described as gruff, power is only mediocre, and the Traverse is too big to handle well.

There are 35.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is presented as a well-rounded family SUV with a strong safety focus and a comfortable road manner. Its expert evaluation highlights a spacious interior, good ride quality, and a broad set of standard safety features.

The powertrain is described as adequate rather than quick, and the engine noise is a notable drawback. Even so, the Traverse’s standard all-wheel drive, eight-speed automatic, and generally controlled ride suggest a vehicle built for everyday family use rather than hard driving.

Chevrolet also includes standard active noise cancellation, though it does not fully solve the engine’s rough character. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Traverse’s size, modest power, and noisy powertrain may age less gracefully than its cabin space and safety tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Traverse?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT is well equipped with cloth upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a hands-free power liftgate. The RS adds a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, driver’s seat memory, leather upholstery, and heated outboard second-row seats.
• Powertrain: Every Traverse uses a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD in Canada. The powertrain is adequate, but the engine note is not especially pleasant.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection and intersection assist, front and rear automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, side bicycle alert, Safety Alert Seat, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and rear parking sensors. Super Cruise is available through the Enhanced Driving package, and the Driver Confidence package adds a surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian alert, traffic sign recognition, and a rear camera mirror.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Maps, a wireless phone charger, and remote start. The system is quick and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Traverse at 12.1 L/100 km in the city, 9.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.1 L/100 km combined. In testing, it averaged 11.8 L/100 km over 200 kilometres of mixed driving.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Z71, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value choice because it gives you the Traverse’s core strengths — lots of accessible space, excellent technology, and plenty of safety features — at the lowest starting point.
• Z71: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking Traverse and the trim that adds moderate off-road ability, along with red front tow hooks and knobby all-terrain tires.
• RS: Pick this if you want the sportier appearance and the most upscale-feeling cabin, with leather upholstery, driver’s seat memory, and heated outboard second-row seats.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, and the available Super Cruise system is a standout if you want hands-free highway driving.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Traverse?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 142 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,738 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $55,738 CAD sits slightly below last year's $64,157 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Traverse has become more attractive to used buyers than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect a softer resale environment than last year’s market. The good news is that strong space, safety, and technology should help it remain appealing to family shoppers.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse earned a Top Safety Pick from the insurance-industry-backed Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the top five out of five stars from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for 2026.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Traverse comes with a long list of standard driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection and intersection assist, front and rear automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, side bicycle alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear parking sensors, and GM’s Safety Alert Seat.

The available Super Cruise system is the standout feature here, and it can handle hands-free driving on mapped highways across North America. The caveat is that it still requires driver attention and can hand control back in construction zones or other difficult situations.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
• It combines a spacious cabin, strong safety equipment, and standout technology.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $51,247 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $55,738 CAD average.
• It adds standard trailering equipment and keeps the Traverse’s family-focused space and technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the strongest mix of safety, technology, and current-market value. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the better price-sensitive alternative.
