New & Used 2026 BMW X3 for Sale nearThompson, MB

Is the 2026 BMW X3 a good car?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns an expert rating of 6.67/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

BMW positions it as a compact luxury SUV that aims to deliver the feel of a sports sedan with SUV practicality, and the 2026 update makes the base model look and feel a little more upscale inside. That lines up with the review’s praise for the X3 being fun to drive, comfortable, and good value for money.

The trade-offs are clear, though: the design may not suit everyone, the interior materials can feel cheap, and the technology can be quirky. Even so, the base X3 30 xDrive is described as good enough that you may prefer its savings over the M50’s extra speed and capability.

With 36.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 reliable?

The 2026 BMW X3 is presented as a well-rounded compact luxury SUV, with the review noting that its standard mild-hybrid system helps make the automatic engine stop/start system barely noticeable. It is also described as reasonably fuel efficient, which supports the case for everyday use.

BMW’s driver-assistance systems are described as refined, smooth, and accurate overall, and the X3 includes a broad set of safety and convenience features. The review also notes that BMW lets you customise most of these systems with sensitivity settings and individual on/off controls, which should help you tailor the experience to your preferences.

The main caution for used buyers is that the technology can be inconsistent in real-world use, so long-term ownership may be more about living with software quirks than mechanical weakness.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW X3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base X3 30 xDrive is the value play, while the M50 adds a more upscale feel, stronger performance hardware, and more aggressive styling details. The base model is the one most likely to leave you wanting upgrades, especially if you care about cabin ambience and appearance.
• Powertrain: The X3 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower, while the M50 uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine with 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Both include all-wheel drive, and both use a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor that can add steering support. The optional Driving Assistant Professional Package adds lane-centring assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist.
• Infotainment: The X3 uses BMW Curved Display hardware with a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect supports cloud-based navigation, Augmented View video, a BMW app store, in-vehicle gaming, and video streaming, while the Premium Package adds a head-up display and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The official fuel economy rating is 8.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the review’s test loop returned 9.8 L/100 km.

Which 2026 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice. It still feels quick, comes standard with all-wheel drive, and can be made more engaging with the optional M Sport Package, 21-inch wheels, M Sport brakes, and adaptive damping suspension. If you want the X3’s core strengths without paying for the M50’s extra speed, this is the trim to target.
• M50: This is the one for you if performance is the priority. It adds the turbocharged inline six, stronger acceleration, M Sport rear differential, M Sport brakes, Adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and an exclusive exhaust system. It suits you best if you want the quickest, most capable version and are willing to accept the higher price and firmer ride.

The safety package is broad, but the optional Driving Assistant Professional Package adds the most advanced driver-assistance features.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 safe?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor that can add steering to help prevent unsafe lane changes. The optional Driving Assistant Professional Package adds lane-centring assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist.

The review also notes a few caveats, including a hard-braking false response when the system mistook cyclists for obstacles, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to rely heavily on the advanced assistance tech.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The base model gets a more upscale look and feel inside.

Consider the 2025 if:

• You want the redesigned X3’s driver-focused character and modern minimalist cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the X3 with a slightly more upscale base interior, the 2026 is the better pick. If you’re shopping on price, the 2025 remains the sensible alternative because it delivers the same redesigned formula and may cost less on the used market.
