How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 expert rating.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out for its German look and feel, and it is the only sub-luxury German option in its class. Volkswagen has also corrected the last generation’s user interface issues, which should make the cabin easier to live with day to day. Even so, it does not separate itself much from the crowded compact SUV field.

The main trade-offs are that it is more competent than distinctive, and it is held back by not much cargo space.

With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a more polished cabin experience and a drivetrain that delivers power more smoothly and linearly than before.

Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is described as more confident for everyday driving, and the suspension is tuned to favour comfort while still keeping the SUV composed. The cabin is also notably quiet, with tire noise well-silenced and wind noise undetectable at highway speeds.

Volkswagen says the Tiguan’s standard safety and driver-assist features functioned as they should during testing, without false alarms or oversensitivity. The lane-keep assist also has a sensible amount of steering pull, which makes the system easier to live with.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Tiguan’s appeal depends more on refinement than on standout durability advantages, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model comes very well equipped, while the top trim adds an illuminated VW badge and light bar, plus a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The top trim adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: All Tiguan models come standard with a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. A 15-inch display with native navigation is standard on the top trim.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel economy at 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 7.8 on the highway, and 9.3 combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line sport appearance package, Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the best-value choice if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras, since it already comes very well equipped.
• Comfortline: This is the sensible step-up if you want a little more equipment while keeping the Tiguan’s overall character intact.
• Comfortline R-Line sport appearance package: Choose this if you want the sport appearance treatment, but it does not materially change the Tiguan’s character.
• Highline R-Line: This is the trim to buy if you want the most features, including the larger 15-inch display, native navigation, head-up display, surround-view camera system, and traffic sign reader.

The top trim also adds the most advanced safety and convenience equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should be able to shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 853 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,755 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $39,755 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,070 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers than sellers. If you own one and plan to sell later, you may face more competition from similarly priced listings.

For a future seller, the Tiguan’s resale value will likely depend on how well it holds its appeal as a refined, well-equipped compact SUV. Strong condition and desirable trim equipment should help offset the softer market trend.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan does not yet have crash test results from NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking.

The top Highline R-Line trim adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• It offers a refined, quiet cabin and corrected user-interface issues.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,476 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,755 CAD average.
• It offers stylish design and good handling.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the more polished, better-sorted Tiguan and are comfortable paying more for it. If you are price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter value play.
