Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — you rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.3/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta is a compact sedan that gives you plenty of passenger space, a large trunk, and a fuel-efficient engine with plenty of zip. For 2025, Volkswagen also improves the interior, upgrades the handling, and adds more standard technology, which makes it a stronger fit if you want a practical daily driver that still feels enjoyable on the road.

The main trade-offs are the frustrating touch-sensitive climate controls and the lack of all-wheel drive. It also does not offer a hybrid option.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a meaningful amount of attractive inventory to consider.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta is presented as a sensible, well-engineered compact sedan with a roomy cabin and a big trunk, and the expert review also points to a refined driving character. Its standard driver-assistance systems work with remarkable precision and refinement, which supports confidence in everyday use.

Volkswagen also backs the Jetta with a four-year or 80,000-kilometre warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the bigger long-term concern is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the Jetta’s quirks and feature set over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Jetta?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the 2025 Jetta comes in Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline trim levels. The base trim is the most stripped-down version, while the higher trims add a more upscale cabin, leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, upgraded digital instrumentation, and more comfort features. The Comfortline Sport package also adds 18-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel pedals, an electronic differential lock, a heated wiper park, a wide sunroof, and a digital instrument cluster.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The review notes that the engine feels stronger in Sport mode, while Normal mode can suffer from turbo lag.
• Safety package: Every trim gets IQ.Drive, Volkswagen’s driver-assistance suite. Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with active collision avoidance, and Lane Assist can work with Emergency Assist to bring the car to a safe stop and activate the hazard lights if the driver becomes unresponsive. Lane Assist is available rather than standard on every version.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch digital instrument panel, Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Car-Net connected services. Comfortline adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, and voice recognition, while the Highline also adds navigation. The Comfortline Sport package or Highline brings a more sophisticated 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro display.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Jetta at 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the review’s testing returned 8.9 L/100 km.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Jetta’s space, fuel efficiency, and standard safety tech at the lowest cost. It gets the core mechanical package and the standard infotainment setup, but it misses some of the nicer cabin and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, SiriusXM, voice recognition, and access to the Sport package. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the trim to focus on.
• Highline: Choose this if you want the most upscale Jetta experience, with leather upholstery, ambient lighting, upgraded digital instrumentation, and additional comfort features. It also bundles many of the Sport package’s upgrades, so it suits you best if you want the most polished version of the car.

IQ.Drive is standard across the range, and Lane Assist is available rather than standard on every version.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make a good purchase possible.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 468 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,384 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $26,384 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,590 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale a little more challenging if you purchase at the wrong point in the cycle. If you buy near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong equipment, a roomy cabin, and the Jetta’s broad appeal should still help it remain easy to shop in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and Good ratings in the IIHS small overlap front crash test and original versions of the moderate overlap front and side-impact tests, but it received an Acceptable rating in the updated side crash test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen equips every 2025 Jetta with IQ.Drive, its driver-assistance suite. Standard features include blind-spot monitoring with active collision avoidance, and Emergency Assist can bring the car to a safe stop and activate the hazard lights if the driver becomes unresponsive while Lane Assist is active. The review also notes that the system works with remarkable precision and refinement, aside from some lane-centreing behaviour in widening or narrowing lanes.

The main caveat is that the Jetta is not a leader in its segment regarding safety ratings, and the updated IIHS side crash result is a weaker point to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year brings styling updates, a nicer interior, improved handling, and more standard technology.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date Jetta with the strongest mix of value, equipment, and driving polish, the 2025 model is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but you give up some of the 2025 updates that make this version more appealing.
