Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

If you want a compact sedan with plenty of passenger space, a large trunk, and a fuel-efficient engine with plenty of zip, this model fits that brief well. It also brings a distinctive German character through its design and engineering, and the 2025 updates improve the styling, interior, handling, and standard technology.

The main trade-offs are the frustrating touch-sensitive climate controls and the lack of all-wheel drive. Even so, the Jetta’s sensible layout and engaging road manners make it a strong fit if you want practicality without giving up some driving enjoyment.

33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign of market availability.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Jetta is presented as a sensible, well-rounded compact sedan with a roomy interior, a big trunk, and a competitive price. Its turbocharged 1.5-litre engine is described as fuel-efficient and lively enough to give the car some zip, while the refreshed chassis tuning adds a more rewarding driving character than before.

Volkswagen also backs the car with a four-year or 80,000-kilometre warranty, which helps reduce early ownership uncertainty. The main long-term risk for used buyers is that the Jetta is still a fairly simple, single-minded sedan, so you should be especially careful to confirm that the controls, electronics, and maintenance history have been well looked after.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Jetta?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard lineup includes Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline. The Comfortline’s available Sport package adds 18-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel pedals, an electronic differential lock, a heated wiper park, a wide sunroof, and a digital instrument cluster, while the Highline includes most of those features and adds leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, upgraded digital instrumentation, and additional comfort features. If you want the best value, the Comfortline with the Sport package is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is not available.
• Safety package: Every trim comes with IQ.Drive, Volkswagen’s driver-assistance suite. Standard features include blind-spot monitoring with active collision avoidance, and Emergency Assist works with the available Lane Assist system to help bring the car to a safe stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital instrument panel, plus Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Car-Net connected services. The Comfortline adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, and voice recognition, while the Sport package and Highline upgrade to a 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro display.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Jetta at 7.4 L/100 km in combined driving.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 3 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Jetta formula with the standard turbocharged engine, the 8-inch touchscreen, the 8-inch digital instrument panel, and IQ.Drive. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and are comfortable skipping the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• Comfortline: This is the trim most shoppers should start with because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless smartphone charging, and voice recognition. If you want the best balance of equipment and value, this is the one to target, especially with the available Sport package.
• Highline: This is the most upscale standard Jetta trim, and it adds leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, upgraded digital instrumentation, and additional comfort features. Choose it if you want the most polished cabin and are willing to pay for the extra refinement.

IQ.Drive is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 430 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,929 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $26,930 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,843 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a seller to command top dollar right away. If you plan to sell later, the Jetta’s value will likely depend on how well it holds its appeal as a practical, efficient compact sedan with a roomy cabin and strong equipment. A model that stays desirable for those reasons should remain easier to move than a less distinctive alternative.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2025 Jetta earns five-star ratings from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it Good ratings in the small overlap front crash test and the original versions of the moderate overlap front and side-impact tests, but an Acceptable rating in the updated side crash test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen equips every 2025 Jetta with IQ.Drive, its driver-assistance suite. Standard features include blind-spot monitoring with active collision avoidance, and Emergency Assist can bring the car to a safe stop and activate the hazard lights if the driver becomes unresponsive while Lane Assist is active.

The main safety caveat is that the Jetta is not a segment leader in safety ratings, and the updated side crash result is weaker than the rest of its test record.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year brings styling updates, an improved interior, upgraded handling, and more standard technology.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date Jetta with the refreshed styling and added standard tech, the 2025 model is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025’s softer pricing and stronger equipment make it the better all-around pick for many used-car shoppers.
