Is the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI earns an 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It remains a strong choice if you want a useful car that is also extremely fun to drive, with a terrific powertrain and everyday practicality. The trade-offs are clear: the price increase reduces overall value, and the haptic slider controls remain frustrating.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI is presented as a well-rounded hatchback with strong everyday usability and a powertrain that is described as excellent and impressive. Volkswagen also backs it with a five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain limited warranty and a four-year, 80,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty.

Its performance content points to a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers its power in a consistent, confident way, and the overall package is framed as practical and durable enough for regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the higher purchase price leaves less room for error if you need repairs or want to absorb depreciation.
