Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and a distinctly truck-like sense of scale. Its long-wheelbase layout adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which translates into extra room for third-row passengers and a lot more cargo space behind them. For you, that makes it especially appealing if you need to carry people and gear in one vehicle.

This model year also benefits from a broad range of powertrain choices, including a standard 5.3-litre V8, an available 6.2-litre V8, and an available 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel engine. The 2025 update also brought a larger 16.8-inch infotainment screen, Night Vision as an option, and a power increase for the optional Duramax turbo-diesel engine from 277 to 305 horsepower. The Yukon XL’s appeal is strongest if you want a large SUV that can be configured for comfort, towing, or long-distance family use.

At the same time, its size and truck-based character mean it is not the most efficient or nimble choice, and the buying guide notes poor fuel economy and handling compared with car-based crossovers. Even so, the 2025 GMC Yukon XL remains distinctive because it combines genuine three-row practicality with upscale available equipment and a wide spread of trims and engines. With 24.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful share of the market to shop from.

Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL is presented as a large, truck-based SUV with a broad range of trims and engines, and its appeal centres on space, flexibility, and available upscale equipment. The model’s long-wheelbase layout and family-focused packaging make it a practical choice if you need a vehicle that can handle passengers and cargo together.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a vehicle this large and complex can be more expensive to live with than a smaller crossover, especially if you plan to use it heavily for family travel, towing, or daily commuting.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $92,971 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $92,971 CAD sits slightly below last year's $99,522 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you if you're buying now but may put some pressure on future resale expectations. If you plan to sell later, a lower current average can mean you should be realistic about how quickly value may continue to soften. For a future seller, the strongest protection will likely come from choosing a well-equipped example with desirable features and keeping it in strong condition.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.58% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version with the updated infotainment screen, added trim availability, and the broader 2025 feature set, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may be worth a closer look, especially if you can find a lower-priced example with the equipment you want.
