Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and a distinctly truck-like character. Its long-wheelbase design adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which gives it extra room for third-row passengers and a great deal more cargo space behind them. It also offers three powertrain choices, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which gives you flexibility if you want to prioritise power, efficiency, or diesel torque.

For 2025, it also gained a larger 16.8-inch infotainment system with Google Built-In, Night Vision became available, and the lineup added a new AT4 Ultimate trim. Those updates help keep it competitive if you want a large SUV with modern technology and an upscale cabin.

The Yukon XL remains appealing if you need serious passenger and luggage capacity but still want a range of mechanical choices. 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL is built around a familiar full-size SUV formula, with multiple powertrain choices and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Its appeal comes from its space, flexibility, and broad trim range, rather than from any single standout mechanical trick.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, heavy SUV like this can be costly to keep running if you want to stay ahead of wear items and maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.95% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $93,506 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $93,506 CAD sits slightly below last year's $108,660 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the Yukon XL’s value will likely depend on how well you preserve its condition, mileage, and equipment level. A well-kept example with desirable features should still appeal to shoppers who need maximum space and a premium-feeling large SUV.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.95% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date version of the Yukon XL with the larger infotainment screen, available Night Vision, and the latest trim changes, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may give you similar space and utility for less money, especially if you are comfortable giving up some of the newest updates.
