Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and a distinctly truck-like sense of scale. Its long-wheelbase layout adds more than 30 centimetres between the front and rear axles, which translates into extra room for third-row passengers and a lot more cargo space behind them. For buyers who need to carry people and gear in one vehicle, that combination is the Yukon XL’s defining strength.

This model year also benefits from a broad range of powertrain choices. The standard engine is a 5.3-litre V8, while a 6.2-litre V8 and a 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel engine are available. The 2025 update also brought a larger 16.8-inch infotainment screen, Night Vision as an option, and a power increase for the optional Duramax turbo-diesel engine from 277 to 305 horsepower. The Yukon XL’s appeal is strongest for shoppers who want a large SUV that can be configured for comfort, towing, or long-distance family use.

Is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

The 2025 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, flexibility, and a distinctly truck-like sense of scale. The Yukon XL’s appeal is strongest for shoppers who want a large SUV that can be configured for comfort, towing, or long-distance family use. At the same time, its size and truck-based character mean it is not the most efficient or nimble choice, and the buying guide notes poor fuel economy and handling compared with car-based crossovers.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is tied more to the vehicle’s size, complexity, and running costs than to everyday practicality.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Yukon XL?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you are comparing listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 59 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $92,859 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $92,859 CAD sits slightly below last year's $99,421 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy at a more favourable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale expectations should be set with some caution, especially if the market remains well supplied. If demand stays steady, a well-kept example should still hold appeal because of its space and versatility.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.60% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the latest version of the Yukon XL’s space-first formula, plus the updated infotainment and expanded trim and powertrain choices. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth a look, but the 2025 makes sense when you want the newest features and a market that is currently a bit softer than it was a year ago.
