How much does the 2025 BMW X5 cost?

There are 155 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns an 8.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as BMW’s midsize luxury SUV, and its appeal comes from multiple powertrain options, strong handling, and a comfortable ride. The trade-offs are clear: it is weak value compared with rivals, and advanced safety features are not standard.

With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW X5 is presented as a well-rounded luxury SUV that has lasted in a crowded class because it meets expectations in the areas that matter most to many buyers. Its powertrain lineup is broad, and the driving experience is described as precise and reasonably agile for a vehicle of its size.

BMW’s four-year/80,000-kilometre new-vehicle warranty is comparable to most rivals, which helps with early ownership confidence. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that the X5’s premium positioning can make repairs and upkeep more expensive than you might expect if you plan to keep it for many years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base X5 comes with 20-inch wheels and run-flat all-season tyres, while M Sport packages add sportier bumpers and a leather steering wheel. Higher appearance and performance-oriented packages also bring features such as an illuminated grille, Shadowline headlights, and M Sport brakes, so you should check whether the example you’re considering has the equipment you want rather than assuming it is standard.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six with standard AWD, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, or a plug-in hybrid that pairs the inline-six with a larger electric motor and a 19.2-kWh battery pack. The six-cylinder models are the efficiency benchmark, while the V8 and plug-in hybrid trade economy for stronger performance.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, but not adaptive cruise control. For Highway Assistant and more advanced parking features, you need to verify whether the relevant package is fitted.
• Infotainment: The curved display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. BMW Operating System 8, voice recognition, steering wheel controls, and gesture control are also part of the setup.
• Fuel efficiency: Six-cylinder X5 models are rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, the V8 M60i is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, and the X5 M Competition is rated at 15.8 L/100 km combined. The plug-in hybrid can travel up to 63 kilometres on electric power alone.

Which 2025 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i xDrive, and X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the core X5 experience, including the turbocharged inline-six, standard AWD, and the balanced ride-and-handling character that defines the model.
• xDrive50e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid’s electric-only driving capability and stronger total output, along with standard air suspension.
• M60i xDrive: This is the pick for buyers who want the V8’s extra performance and are willing to pay for it.
• X5 M Competition: This is the high-performance choice, with the most power and the quickest acceleration in the lineup.

The standard safety package does not include adaptive cruise control, so check carefully for the Advanced Driver Assistance Package if that matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 155 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.99% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $82,611 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $85,817 CAD sits slightly below last year's $97,506 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers than it was a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. For a future seller, the main takeaway is that the X5’s value is still being shaped by market softness, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot at resale.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 safe?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is not standard, and you need to step up to the Advanced Driver Assistance Package to get Highway Assistant, the hands-free system that also handles steering at speeds up to 135 km/h.

Parking tech is also split by package: the standard setup includes Reversing Assistant, while Parking Assistant Professional adds Active Park Distance Control, a 360-degree camera system, and Maneuver Assistant.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.99% compared with last year.
• It keeps the updated cabin, strong handling, and limited-edition anniversary appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $72,083 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $85,817 CAD average.
• It remains a delight to drive while offering about 63 kilometres of electric-only range.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and the latest market data, the 2025 is the cleaner choice. If you are focused on value and can find a well-kept 2024, that year is the smarter path for price-sensitive buyers.
