How much does the 2025 BMW X5 cost?

There are 151 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns an 8.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as BMW’s midsize luxury SUV, with multiple powertrain options, strong handling, and a comfortable ride. The trade-offs are weaker value than rivals and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard, so you may need to step up in trim or package to get the equipment you want.

With 27.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW X5 is presented as a well-rounded SUV that has stayed relevant by balancing driving polish, comfort, and technology. Its four-year/80,000-kilometre new-vehicle warranty is comparable to most rivals, which helps support confidence for used buyers.

BMW’s powertrain lineup also points to a broad, mature range of mechanical choices, from the six-cylinder xDrive40i to the V8 M60i and plug-in hybrid xDrive50e. That said, the X5’s premium positioning and more complex equipment can mean higher ownership costs than you might expect from a mainstream SUV.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying premium-SUV money for features and upkeep that can add up over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base X5 comes with 20-inch wheels and run-flat all-season tires, while M Sport Package models add sportier bumpers and a leather steering wheel. M Sport Pro adds an M Sport exhaust system, matte black grille surround, black chrome exhaust tips, illuminated grille, and Shadowline headlights. If you want the most distinctive appearance and extra hardware, those packages matter.
• Powertrain: In Canada, the X5 starts with the xDrive40i’s turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six with standard AWD, and BMW also offers the M60i’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid. The xDrive50e adds electric driving capability and a 19.2-kWh battery pack, while the V8 model is the quickest non-M Competition choice.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Adaptive cruise control is not standard, and Highway Assistant is part of the Advanced Driver Assistance Package.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen under BMW Operating System 8, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A head-up display is available, and the system also supports voice recognition, steering wheel controls, augmented reality navigation, and digital key connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: Six-cylinder X5 models are rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, while the V8-powered M60i is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined. The X5 M Competition rises to 15.8 L/100 km combined, so efficiency varies a lot by powertrain.

Which 2025 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i xDrive, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the best-value starting point if you want the core X5 experience: standard AWD, the turbocharged inline-six, strong performance, and the same basic luxury-SUV character as the pricier versions.
• xDrive50e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup, electric-only driving capability, and the standard air suspension that comes with it.
• M60i xDrive: This is the pick for buyers who want the V8’s extra power and quicker acceleration, along with the more performance-focused character that comes with it.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top performance choice, with the most extreme output and the quickest acceleration in the lineup.

For safety equipment, remember that adaptive cruise control requires the Advanced Driver Assistance Package, even on this model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 151 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $82,648 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $85,077 CAD sits slightly below last year's $98,822 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers than sellers. If you own one, you may need to price it competitively to move it quickly.

For future sellers, the current trend is a reminder that premium SUVs can lose value meaningfully even when they remain desirable. Strong equipment, low kilometres, and the right powertrain will matter if you want to protect resale.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 safe?

Standard driver aids include lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is not standard, and you need the Advanced Driver Assistance Package to get Highway Assistant, BMW’s hands-free system that also handles steering at speeds up to 135 km/h.

The standard Parking Assistant setup includes Reversing Assistant, and available Parking Assistant Professional adds Active Park Distance Control, a 360-degree camera system, and Maneuver Assistant.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.91% compared with last year.
• It adds a 25th-anniversary limited-edition model and carries forward the 2024 update.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $70,955 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $85,077 CAD average.
• It remains a delight to drive in xDrive50e form.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the latest version of the X5 with better market pricing and the same strong mix of performance, comfort, and technology. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you want the plug-in hybrid character without paying current-year pricing.
